Customer Reviews
We were fortunate enough to get to The Perch early enough to secure the cabin for the evening. Very close to water and wonderful view of the sunset. The cabin is well protected from elements and the care taker was friendly and helpful. I will definitely return to The Perch on my next visit. There are also 4 tent platforms at this area of The Perch is occupied.
This place is truly amazing. I’m here now at 10 am. Spent the night at the log cabin, made my way up here. Going to continue on to gray knob and the crag. We all owe it to ourselves to visit each of these amazing places. Camp. Sleep inside. Sleep outside. Hang a hammock. Stay an hour or a day or two.
Great stay at The Perch. First night was a little wet with high winds and constant rain. The second night was cold but dry and no wind. The site has access to water about 4 tent platforms and the lean-to
The Randolph Path is possibly the easiest way up to The Perch. I made camp on a platform and enjoyed the company of other hikers as we all made ramen for dinner. No fires here - only cookstoves. The little waterfall was perfect for collecting water to filter. I put my food in a bear canister but most other hikers had bags they slung over tree branches nearby. The caretaker was very helpful to suggest I could leave some gear the next morning for my hike up to Adams. That was a key decision because the hike was challenging and I got so tired that I almost stayed a second night at The Perch. It's a good base camp for Jefferson also. The Perch has four platforms and one lean-to. All spots filled up on this mid-week September day so I guess it's not as secret as I thought! Great memory and I signed up for Randolph Mountain Club in the hopes of staying at their other properties in the future. Very accommodating! Caretaker spent some time to help us plan our route for the next day. Highly recommend!
