Extraordinary in every way! We’ve been twice and will be on our third, ten day Roost at the Roost soon. You are remote high clearance area but common sense with your rig and it goes well, that’s the first charm. As you climb across a wash and curve back over a shoulder you have a spectacular plain in front of you, you will be lost in the vastness, of view, of quiet, of sky and nature. Be prepared it’s worth sitting and drinking the changing landscape. So know it’s great and take care of it!!!

This is what we came for! Backcountry “glamping” ! Stargazing under a new moon without another soul in sight for miles! The pad includes a bear box, very helpful! And had 3-4 locations to put a tent. We will definitely be back for some more overlanding adventures in big bend! IG: FaithFunFreedom

If you have an off-road 4x4 vehicle this is an Awesome backcountry campsite! Juniper canyon trailhead is 3.5 miles (approximately) further down the road and is a cool hike to explore while you’re there. Take plenty of water and know that if you have to refill it takes 2-3 hours to Rio Grande for a refill but worth it! The views and night sky’s are unbeatable!

What an amazing camp site! Just be aware it’s 10 miles off paved road, took an hour creeping around 10mph and brush is tight in spots so expect some pinstripes

Great site, flowers in spring are the best. Ocotillos were the best I’ve ever seen. Did see the rock rattler and a tarantula just outside the site, watch your step.
