If you have a camper and are self sufficient this place is great! We saw the reviews about the bath house, but we didn’t need it. (I did use the restroom before we left and it wasn’t bad.) We had a spot maybe 30 yards from the lake. It was gorgeous. We sat outside by the fire pit in the evening and watched the sun go down. The owner is very friendly! The value is fantastic. Again, if you are looking for a place to park your camper or tent to sleep in, and don’t need a bunch of amenities (pool and other stuff) this place is great! It served us quite well and we would absolutely stay there again. The views are beautiful!
This is a nice waterfront campground. It is not a resort. Power was consistent throughout our stay. Staff (Tom) was exceptional and great help getting to the sites and checked in throughout the weekend. We brought 14 rigs for a weekend rally and had a wonderful time. Sites along the water are not level so bring boards and also power extension chords. Dump station is an easy pull in/back out. I hope they make improvements to the site leveling but don’t do too much to make it so popular that we can’t get in again!!
No frills campground, but it's still perfect! Right next to the water, no noisy neighbors, the occasional truck on the road, but a nice place. With all the recent rain there are electric issues on some sites, but they have extensions and solutions. Ground is a little unlevel in spots, but we were fine.
We pulled up, and immediately were greeted. I was taken by golf cart around the entire camp site to specifically choose which spot I wanted. Saturday night was semi-crowded, and Sunday night we had the whole beach line to ourselves. Our view was amazing (see photos). The firewood is cheap, and the gentlemen who helped us were all very accommodating and friendly. Yes the bathrooms are run-down, but the toilets and sinks were clean. If it was peak season, our experience might have been totally different, but thankfully it was late enough in the season where everything worked out perfect. It is also cheap to stay here per night. The price, views, and customer service were all A+, I would 100% return.
If I could give it negative stars I would. Told we had electricity at site when we get to our site we have no electric box, and when told the office person about it, his solution was a power cord that had been stretched from another rv site and feeding 4 other tents as well as constantly be ran over by vehicles, not sure how this is safe or acceptable for a campground. When I told him there was nowhere for me to plug in he refused to show me where I needed to plug into. Bathrooms were disgusting. You have cleaner bathrooms at the speedway gas station down the road. -10/10 please spend you money else where.
This campground is a gem in my opinion. It’s not kept up very well but if you relatively self sufficient then you should have no issues. Most sites offer power and water. We were able to get as close to the water as you can in a camper. There was some goose poop to clean up but once we were set up it was amazing. The camp host was very personable and helpful and the other campers were great to visit with. The views of Bois Blanc, the Mackinaw Bridge, and the passing freighters were worth camping there alone.
We got our trailer all set up, but then noticed the electric pole wasn’t working, so we had to move to another spot. Also, the bathrooms are pretty old, and the toilet seat was a bit shaky.
Only issue was the bugs. Lots of knats and mosquitoes, but we camped about 20 feet from Lake Michigan so it was well worth it! Take ur bug spray, lol
