Rock Creek Campground

Oh my gosh is this place gorgeous! This weekend my family took our kids out camping for the first time and we were blown away by how friendly the hosts were, how friendly the other campers were, and just how beautiful the campsite is! The hosts take amazing care of the campground and are super helpful when it comes to finding fun trails down to the creek! Super kid friendly! My kiddo and her cousins had a blast in the creek! We personally don’t have horses, but by the end of the trip all of the kids were talking about how they now want a horse! Our kids will remember their first camping trip as the best camping trip ever! Thanks Jenny!

Great place to get away. Beautiful. Bathrooms are clean. No showers. Pretty small creek that you can't really swim in. Horse campers get priority.

Lovely campground! Camp host is friendly and doesn’t hassle anyone. Mostly horse sites, but there are several non-horse sites and the horse sites are open to everyone after (I believe) 8pm so there’s a good chance to snag a last-minute site. Entrance gate is closed when it gets dark but it isn’t locked, so you can still access the campground and come and go as you need. Sites are spaced out nicely and bathrooms (pit toilets with no running water, though there are taps for livestock water and washing) are conveniently placed. Sites are large, too! I have a pretty big (11x16) tent and I had plenty of room. Discovery Pass required but no daily fee; 10 day max stay (includes Cold Creek Campground that’s a little further up the road). The red trucks that come around are forest service personnel; they do check for the pass but are mostly there for safety - yours and the forest’s). Coyotes come around, and cougars & bears are in the area but avoid the campground itself; just be aware and keep an eye on pets and kids. Bring enough food, water, and firewood for your stay. The nearest store in Yacolt isn’t TOO far, but far enough to be inconvenient. Little to no cell coverage for Verizon, but you can get a signal not too far from camp. I would get an intermittent signal if I held my phone just right. Try turning off LTE; sometimes 3G works okay. Rock Creek runs nearby and you can hear it at night, which I love. A couple of spots are deep enough to take a dip, though the water is cold. Several hiking trails run through or near here. They’re shared by horses and mountain bikes, so keep your dogs on-leash and be prepared to jump out of the way if a biker is tearing down the hill. They can’t stop very easily and injuries would be a huge pain in the rear out on these trails. PLEASE: Do your part to preserve the wilderness. Haul out your trash - there are no trash bins in the campground.

Love this place. It's so peaceful, the camp host is the friendliest!!! Everyone has been so respectful, nice and clean, beautiful scenery. Don't forget folks pack out what you pack in! Oh and the horses sites!!!! Soo neat! Loooooove this place.

Prices have gone up. The first priority is for horse campers. Others can stay but have to wait until an evening time period to claim a spot. Nice wooded area, but access is locked in the evening until the morning.

Beautiful area, plenty or horse and mountain biking trails. Quiet camping, no hook ups but I love this area. It is posted that a mountain lion was seen approximately 1 year ago. Leashes required for dogs. Plenty of secure horse corrals and picnic areas.

So, this is definitely the off season and when my wife and I first arrived here my thought was this is a dilapidated campground…..HOWEVER…..after staying here I would call it rustic! We had a very relaxing three days, only saw a couple of cars, and it was super quiet! We don’t have horses, but I would say this campground might be a little tight for horse trailers and trucks, and still have a place to camp. Bathrooms seemed clean, with pit toilets. The trail access here is truly amazing! The trails, and bridges were all very well maintained! We woke up to a light dusting of snow two of the three mornings we were here, and it made this little rustic campground very pretty! (Sorry no pics of the snow…that was just for us!) JUST A HEADS UP, WHEN YOU ARE HERE YOUR CONNECTION IS YOUR SURROUNDINGS THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE AT THIS LOCATION!
