What is Worth Choosing Rockhaven Park
When deciding on your next camping spot in Kansas, Rockhaven Park Equestrian Campground stands out for several compelling reasons, particularly for the horse-owning community.
First and foremost, its equestrian-first approach eliminates the hassle of finding a place to safely and legally camp with your horses near a major trail system. The large, well-maintained sites with individual corrals and manure disposal facilities demonstrate a commitment to both camper and animal well-being, which is a significant selling point that few other local campgrounds can match. The positive customer reviews frequently highlight the cleanliness of the park and the quality of the facilities, noting that the campground is very well-maintained.
Secondly, the immediate access to the South Shore Trails is unparalleled. Being the official trailhead means you can ride straight from your campsite onto miles of scenic paths, offering a truly immersive riding experience. While some reviews mention that parts of the trails can be overgrown, this is often a sign of a less-traveled, more secluded ride—perfect for those seeking tranquility away from crowded paths. The proximity to other Clinton Lake activities, such as boating and fishing at Bloomington East Park (just a short drive away), means there are recreational opportunities for the entire family, even those without horses.
Finally, the park offers a good mix of rustic charm and modern convenience. The non-shady, open nature of the central area is complemented by the availability of electrical hookups and the highly-praised, incredibly powerful, free hot-water showers. This ensures that after a long day on the trails, you can enjoy a comfortable and refreshing end to your day. Rockhaven Park is more than just a place to pitch a tent; it’s a dedicated, clean, and amenity-rich basecamp for exploring the beautiful, horse-friendly trails of Clinton Lake. It's truly a top-tier choice for any equestrian or nature lover looking for a peaceful Kansas getaway.

Large, very well-maintained campground with sites ringed around a large open field, and all with horse corrals. You can also access the trail system that covers the south side of Clinton Lake, although the trails are very overgrown.
The park is very clean and nice. The camping spots aren't the shadiest but they all have metal fire pits. There's also a cute small playground with a little tent-themed climbing structure. The showers are free and incredibly powerful. Rockhaven is a very nice campground.
Very nice park. It has a shower bath place which is nice. Lots of open space and stalls for horses. Many of the campsites have electric but no water or sewer. There is water there and one with a hose can fill up your tanks. No dump station, Bloomington East campground has a dump station before you enter the campground and it is 5 or 6 miles away.
Sites are wonderful. Trails are nice and well marked. Minus the 7 dogs that people did not keep on leash that ran from site to site, it was a great place. The loose dogs were an issue.
You can access multiple hiking trails in the park, and reach lake, really beautiful area, I enjoyed hiking there, although you want to be careful on some trails there are horse dump. Overall good experience
