Rocky Mountain Hi Campground steps up to meet this need, providing a welcoming environment for both seasoned RVers and those new to the joys of camping.
What sets Rocky Mountain Hi apart is its thoughtful design and prime location. It's not just a place to park your rig or pitch your tent; it's a destination in itself. Reviews consistently praise its beauty, spaciousness, and the quiet nights, despite being conveniently close to local amenities. This balance of accessibility and tranquility is often a challenge to find, but Rocky Mountain Hi seems to have mastered it.
This article will guide you through everything you need to know about Rocky Mountain Hi Campground, from its strategic location in Kalispell to the excellent services and features it provides. We'll delve into why this campground is so highly recommended by visitors, including those with large RVs, and why it's a truly suitable spot for us Montanans to experience the best of what our state has to offer, particularly in the stunning Flathead Valley region.
Rocky Mountain Hi Campground is strategically located at 825 Helena Flats Rd, Kalispell, MT 59901, USA. This address places it in an enviable position within the Flathead Valley, offering the best of both worlds: convenient access to urban amenities and a peaceful retreat close to some of Montana's most iconic natural attractions.
One of the most praised aspects of its location is its proximity to downtown Kalispell. This means that campers have easy access to grocery stores, restaurants, local shops, and any other supplies they might need during their stay. This convenience is a huge plus, especially for those on longer trips or families who appreciate having modern comforts within a short drive. Yet, despite this closeness, the campground manages to maintain "very quiet nights," a testament to its thoughtful layout and perhaps the surrounding natural buffer.
Beyond Kalispell, the campground serves as an excellent gateway to the wider wonders of Northwest Montana. Perhaps its most significant draw for both locals and visitors is its relatively short distance to Glacier National Park. This world-renowned park offers endless opportunities for hiking, sightseeing, and wildlife viewing, and having a comfortable base like Rocky Mountain Hi makes day trips to Glacier incredibly feasible and enjoyable.
Additionally, the location provides easy access to other popular spots in the Flathead Valley. Polson, situated on the southern end of Flathead Lake, is noted as being "30ish mins away," offering further recreational options like boating, fishing, and exploring charming lakeside communities. The accessibility of the campground, coupled with its strategic position near major roads, ensures that even "big rigs" find it "easy for big rigs" to navigate and settle in comfortably, as highlighted by numerous reviews. This makes it a truly accessible and convenient hub for exploring the best of Montana.

For us Montanans, Rocky Mountain Hi Campground in Kalispell truly stands out as an exceptional choice for a local getaway. Its suitability stems from a perfect blend of convenience, comfort, and direct access to the very best of our state's natural beauty. We often seek escapes that don't involve extensive travel but still offer a profound connection with the outdoors, and this campground delivers precisely that.
The strategic location near downtown Kalispell is a significant advantage. This means that while you're enjoying the tranquility of your campsite, you're never too far from necessary supplies, a forgotten item, or a delicious meal out. This balance – being close enough for practicality yet far enough for "very quiet nights" – is a rare find and something we locals genuinely appreciate. It allows for spontaneous trips without extensive planning, knowing that amenities are just a short drive away.
Furthermore, the campground's design and amenities are clearly tailored for a comfortable experience. The "wide spaces" and "easy for big rigs" designation are a huge boon for many Montanans who own RVs, ensuring a stress-free setup and ample room to relax. The emphasis on "lots of privacy" at each site is another key factor, allowing for a more intimate and personal connection with nature, away from the hustle and bustle often found in less thoughtfully designed parks. This commitment to guest comfort fosters a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.
Perhaps most compelling for us, however, is its prime position as a gateway to our state's crown jewel: Glacier National Park. The ability to use Rocky Mountain Hi as a comfortable and reliable home base for day trips to Glacier, as well as to Flathead Lake and charming towns like Polson, is an unparalleled benefit. It allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the adventure and beauty of these iconic Montana landscapes, returning each evening to a well-maintained, friendly, and peaceful campground. This combination of accessibility to our most beloved natural attractions, coupled with a highly comfortable and welcoming environment, makes Rocky Mountain Hi Campground an absolutely ideal destination for any Montanan looking to experience the splendor of our home state.

A very pretty, well planned park. Wide spaces, easy for big rigs. lots of privacy. Pull thru was 85 feet long. close to downtown Kalispell for food, store but far away for very quiet nights. office fantastic! we stayed 5 nights, should have stayed 8!! beautiful mountain views! stayed here 2020 NEWMAR Ventana 43 feet.
Came down for the first time from Alberta. Place is really green and well taken care of. Staff is friendly. Super quiet aside from a rooster that loves to make noise basically 24/7 (that isn't true entirely, we were only here for two nights and we spent most of our time away from the campground but that's neither here nor there) anyway, lots to do in the area, Glacier National Park is not too far away. Kalispell is nice. Polson is also nice (30ish mins away). Highly recommend especially to Canadians.
This campground was definitely a favorite of ours and where we will return any time we come this way. We wanted a prolonged stay to visit Glacier many times and they were very helpful. The owners are great people. Very nice, helpful, friendly. They do a great job running this family owned business. It's not near a highway or interstate, which seems to be the norm these days, so it was very quiet. Very clean, well kept. Just from our observation, they appear to put families in one area of the campground, near the playground and creek/swimming hole, and people without kids, in the other area. That's pretty nice. When we walk we can see the kiddos playing and enjoying their stay, but they are on the other side of the campground, so the peace and quiet is maintained for us cranky older people. Haha. :) We tow a 24' enclosed car trailer, and they allowed us to place it in their storage lot in back for no charge. Hook ups were all good. Nice office and store with basic food and supplies there. Laundry, bath/showers, which we didn't use but looked really nice. We actually stayed Aug 11 - Sept 28. I feel like the price here was fair given the proximity to Glacier and made this stay affordable and allowed us to drive our car all over easily to see things.
Great campground, close to everything. We had a spacious spot (and we are 46.10!), leveled. Beautiful mountain views. Staff was very friendly. We were allowed to receive packages. Laundry was convenient even though a lot of machines were out of order. We liked the area so much, we are going back for 2 weeks at the end of the month. Lots of hiking and lakes. National Park was still on timed entry so hopefully we will be able to go this time around.
Booked 10 days .. got the best site! We found the staff/owners to be very friendly and helpful. Had several packages delivered to the campground. Found the laundry and bathroom to be very clean. Lots of activities for children to do. Provided a time for everyone to go to a central location and set off fireworks .. lots of fun! If we were coming west again, this is a campground I would definitely come back to.
