There are many words I could use to describe this place; beautiful, stunning, spectacular, tranquil, peaceful, and amazing!!! Such a wonderful experience visiting here. It was snowing and the drive up the mountain was gorgeous( and a little nerve racking)! So many awe inspiring moments…it was just breathtaking! Got to step out onto frozen Bear Lake, which was really cool, until we learned someone had fallen in shortly before our arrival 😳 Surprisingly enough, it didn’t stop people from wandering out all the way across the lake!! Seen several beautiful deer out along the drive, but the most amazing thing, was seeing a bunch of elk on our way back down!! They were spread out in several different areas, but it was such a wonderful sight to see! My only compliant is that I wish there had been more lookout spots, where you could pullover to take pictures. There were quite a few, but it could’ve used a few more! So glad I got to experience this place and see it in person! Be sure to stop by the visitors center and grab some souvenirs and get your Park Passport book stamped!!
Rocky Mountain is a great place for any mountain lover. I felt lucky enough to see some wildlife there. The only problem was that they required time reservations from 9am to 2pm for the park, and for Bear Lake (I can’t remember the timeline). So we visited the Bear Lake after 6pm, but I would say it was still worth it.
Rocky Mountain National Park is absolutely breathtaking! I had an amazing visit and was lucky enough to see both elk and coyotes in their natural habitat. Watching the wildlife roam freely was such a magical experience and a true highlight of my trip. The park’s landscapes are stunning, with towering mountains, peaceful meadows, and crystal clear lakes. Whether you’re driving along Trail Ridge Road or hiking one of the many trails, there’s beauty everywhere you turn. The air feels so fresh, and the views are truly unmatched. It’s a great destination for anyone who loves nature and wildlife. Be sure to bring a camera and take your time exploring you never know what amazing sights you’ll come across. I can’t recommend it enough!
One of the best stops on our road trip was to Rocky Mountain National Park. Never before have I heard so much bugling; the elk were plentiful and on parade on many of our excursions. While it is never smart to get close to a herd, you can enjoy their majestic presence from afar, taking in the surrounding mountains.
Great place to trek, spectacular views and witness wildlife. The Alpine visitor center has great views on top. Other visitor centers have flush toilets too. We can get beautiful sunset views in Bear lake. Timed entry is required to enter Rocky mountain national Park between 9 am to 2 pm and for Bear lake between 5 am to 6 pm during the summer and fall seasons. Best to visit Bear lake during sunset or sunrise for the spectacular views. Extremely beautiful during the fall season.
