I have stayed here at the Rodeway on/off over the last few years at least 12 times due to the low price when I come up for various LP events. Each year this hotel gets worse. My most recent stay was the end for me. Hallways was/are constantly smelling like smoke/weed, the toilets are so hit or miss and had to hold down the handle for 5 seconds just to get it to flush. I was given a room and when I went in, there was someone already in the room smoking and then the new room they gave me, room #208 specifically had black mold on the shower ceiling. They do not shovel or plow the lots or salt the walkways, and a guest had peed on the steps outside in the snow, it's just so trashy. I parked around back and had to use 4X4 just to back into the lot the snow was so deep. I will say that if you do stay here, you're better off sleeping on top of the sheets, bring your own sleeping bag, and be mindful that there are no microwaves in the rooms, only in the hallways. The hotel staff are very friendly but the hotel is utterly unacceptable and you feel gross staying there. Spend the extra money and stay elsewhere.

One of few hotels in Lake Placid that did not raise the prices for a busy weekend. Clean room and amazing staff. I would like to mention the front desk clerk Kevin. Kevin was super helpful and made my stay that much better. I also noticed he’s done a great job with other guests as well. I was surprised that breakfast was included in the price. Definitely would recommend this hotel. They even have an indoor pool and spa. And for the price you really can’t find a better hotel.

STAY AWAY! This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. #1 - our 85 year old father-in-law is disabled and has a very hard time getting around with his walker. They WOULD NOT plow the parking lot despite there being about 4 inches of snow on the ground. I had to ask for a snow shovel to try to clear a path for him. #2 - the pool is advertised as working but has apparently been closed for 'maintenance ' since November. Go check out the Google reviews. We are not the only family b.s. about this. #3 - room was gross when we arrived. Had to ask cleaning to vacuum the floor. #3 - walks are paper thin. I could hear everything going on in the adjoining room. Day 3, got about an inch of rain. The snow became a giant slushy mess. A woman who had broken her hip fell in the lot and re-injured. No plow. This place is a classic negligence case waiting to happen. #4- none of the entrances or exits are locked at night. Totally unsecured so make sure your room doors are bolted. #5 - No amenities. I think we got a tiny bar of soap the last day. The front desk attendant was very courteous and helpful but she could only do so much. Do yourself a favor. Pay a little more and go somewhere else.

The young girl at the front desk was blatantly rude, unhelpful, and acted as if she was angry we chose to stay here. We came in freezing to death after a day of winter hiking in a rush to just get in a room, otherwise I would have gone elsewhere. When I first lifted my bed sheet I found multiple long hairs.. pretty nauseating but room seemed clean enough otherwise. No microwave in the room. In our very short time the shower faucet got stuck and toilet clogged. Thankfully it fixed itself because, again, the younger girl working at the time was miserable. Should note that the hot tub and pool as advertised is Closed. Should ALSO note that online the price I saw was $74, then I called and the price quoted on the phone was $90 (the guy on the phone then transferred me to the girl at the front desk who hung up on me) and when I actually arrived I was charged $112 by said girl. Wound up being fine for the night as a place to get some shut eye, and a different lady at the desk the following morning was more normal and nice.

I stay at this hotel every time I come to Lake Placid and normally it's great but this time I was really disappointed with my stay. For starters, the sliding glass door going outside doesn't lock, so anyone could get in if you're not careful. We had to wedge a chair in there to prevent the door from opening. I'm just glad I realized because that's how people go missing. Second, the shower is designed in a way in which you physically can't use it without getting water every where, and the tub drains so slowly that after four minutes in the shower you're up to your ankles in water. It's kind of a gross feeling when you just are trying to get clean after hiking and sweating all day. The third strike was finding a piece of candy- an everlasting gobstopper, specifically- in one of ours beds, folded up in the sheets. Neither of us bought or eat candy, and it's just the two of us here. Kind of makes you feel like the bedding didn't get washed when you find random candy in it. On top of this, there were flies in the room and a coffee maker with sugar and non-dairy creamer but no actual coffee to brew. I tried to buy a water bottle from the vending machine but when I hit the water button it gave me a Schwepp's Ginger Ale. I could have tolerated all this if the pool and hot tub weren't closed for maintenance our entire stay. Overall just a really disappointing experience and this will probably be my last stay here. It used to be much better but now it feels like everyone at the hotel has just given up. The extra money to stay somewhere else is worth it if it means a clean bed and a door that actually locks.
