We came out late at night hoping to have a quiet place ro sleep in our car. We were met with DO NOT ENTER signs and underneath same thing was written in every language. I've never seen anything like it. As we turned around to go back a police car very quickly swooped in behind us parked ans watched us. I don't know whats there but it's definitely not campground.

Incredibly gorgeous hike down the side of Glen Canyon to the river! Prepare well: hiking shoes with good tread, lots of extra water, snacks to keep your energy up, water shoes and bathing suit for swimming at the sandy beach at the river, sun hat, sunscreen, long pants for sliding down on your butt when needed and good leather gloves! The thick wire "rope" is fraying and will cut your hands if you do not wear gloves. So worth the hike! Very difficult in spots. Sheer drop off of the side of the canyon, get a good grip on the rope and choose your footholds carefully. We hiked in 100 degrees, so hot but so inspiring! Loved every moment even the constant adrenaline rush! Take photos!

Free camping along the Colorado River, a short distance from Glen Dam. Possibility of lighting fires in the braziers present but only with wood brought specifically. It is forbidden to use wood on site. Access via a very small beach from the river or via a no longer maintained path equipped with steel ropes. The use of double ropes and climbing shoes is recommended. Very dense and sometimes impenetrable vegetation near the river.
