Routt County Fairgrounds RV Park Introduce

Welcome, fellow Coloradans, to a practical guide for your next RV adventure in the scenic Yampa Valley! If you're seeking a straightforward and convenient place to park your rig while exploring the wonders of Northwest Colorado, the Routt County Fairgrounds RV Park in Hayden offers a unique and accessible option. Tucked away in the heart of Routt County, this RV park provides a no-frills yet fully functional base for enjoying the local charm and outdoor activities that make our state so special. Let's delve into what makes this spot a suitable choice for your Colorado getaways.

Introduction / Overview

The Routt County Fairgrounds RV Park is an operational, practical RV camping destination designed to meet the essential needs of travelers. Situated within the vibrant Routt County Fairgrounds, it provides a unique blend of convenience and a connection to local community events, particularly during the annual Routt County Fair. This isn't a luxury resort, but rather a clean, organized, and reliable spot for RVs. It caters to those who prioritize functional amenities and a strategic location over elaborate recreational facilities directly on-site. Think of it as your efficient home base while you explore the myriad of attractions that the Yampa Valley has to offer, from the hot springs of Steamboat Springs to the vast wilderness areas.

Customers consistently highlight its key strengths: full hookups, level concrete pads, and its advantageous position. While it may not boast a full-time staff or an abundance of on-site amenities like Wi-Fi or extensive security, it consistently delivers on its core promise of providing reliable RV accommodations. The atmosphere is generally quiet and peaceful, especially outside of major fairground events, allowing for a restful stay after a day of Colorado adventures.

Location and Accessibility

The Routt County Fairgrounds RV Park is ideally located at 398 S Poplar St, Hayden, CO 81639, USA. This address places it directly in Hayden, a charming town that serves as a gateway to the wider Yampa Valley region. Its proximity to U.S. Highway 40, being just two blocks south of the main thoroughfare, ensures excellent accessibility for RVs of all sizes, making arrival and departure straightforward.

One of the significant advantages of this location for Coloradans is its strategic position relative to popular regional destinations. Steamboat Springs, a renowned ski resort town and hub for outdoor recreation, is approximately 30 minutes away by car. This means you can easily enjoy Steamboat's world-class skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and dining options without the higher accommodation costs often associated with staying directly in Steamboat.

Beyond Steamboat, the RV park offers easy access to other natural attractions. The Yampa River State Park, known for its boating, fishing, and hiking opportunities, is just a short drive away. Elkhead Reservoir State Park, another fantastic spot for water activities and wildlife viewing, is also within easy reach. The surrounding areas offer vast opportunities for hunting, equestrian activities, and snowmobiling in the winter months. Its location within a fairgrounds setting also means you're steps away from any events happening there, offering a unique local experience.

Services Offered

The Routt County Fairgrounds RV Park focuses on providing essential and reliable services for RVers. Here's what you can expect:

  • Full Hookup Sites: The park offers a number of full hookup sites, which include 20/30/50 amp electric service, water, and sewer connections. These concrete pads are designed to be level, ensuring an easy setup for your RV.

  • Electric-Only Sites: In addition to full hookups, there are primitive electric-only sites available, providing 20 amp electric service. These are suitable for pop-up campers and tents, though it is primarily an RV park.

  • Dump Station: A convenient dump station is available on-site, making it easy to prepare your rig for departure. This is typically open seasonally from mid-April through November.

  • Restroom and Shower Facilities: There is a bathhouse with restrooms and showers. While some reviews suggest showers may be coin-operated, their availability is a key convenience for campers.

  • Pet-Friendly: Pets are welcome at the campsites, provided they are well-behaved, kept on a leash, and their waste is promptly cleaned up. This is a big plus for those traveling with their furry companions.

  • Horse Stables and Corrals: For those traveling with horses, the fairgrounds offer on-site horse stables and corrals, with the possibility of trails starting directly from the site. This is a unique amenity for equestrian enthusiasts.

  • Seasonal Operations: While full hookup sites may be open year-round, some services, like the dump station and primitive electric sites, operate seasonally. It's always a good idea to confirm specific dates if traveling during the shoulder seasons.

While the Routt County Fairgrounds RV Park is known for its practical approach, it offers several notable features that enhance its appeal, especially for local Coloradan users:

If you know what to expect than this place gets the job done!!! There is ZERO WiFi available! There is ZERO staff available. There is ZERO amenities available! There is ZERO security-which can be unnerving at night if you’re traveling alone! But they have full hookups and level concrete pads about 30 minutes from Steamboat Springs! As long as you know what you’re getting into-it’s great! Just don’t expect much. Even for a county fairgrounds RV park-it’s pretty sparse!

This is the worst fairground rv park I have stayed at! I was supposed to be there 5 nights and I left after the first even though they don’t give refunds. The water pressure was bad and the water had a brown tinge to it. They charged for showers, and there was no other amenities. Also when I booked it the website said my rv spot had partial shade. That was just a flat out lie. There was no shade at all. There was no dumpster that the residents were allowed to use either. If you had the option I would pass right by this rv park and go to one that is actually worth the money.

Routt County fair grounds is one of Routt County's best features. The facilities are very well maintained and they are able to meet most all of any needs you may have. Jill and Jimmy take great pride in the beautiful property. There are wonderful events that happen threw out the entire year. The indoor arena is always in great shape for year round horse riding. Please stop and visit to see for yourself.

My friend & I enjoyed the concert. The grounds are well- kept. Parking was good. More vendors might be a nice addition. Staff that we interacted with were pleasant & helpful.
