Ruark West Campground Introduce

Ruark Bluff West Campground: Your Gateway to Adventure on Missouri's Stockton Lake

For Missouri natives seeking the quintessential Ozarks outdoor experience, look no further than **Ruark Bluff West Campground**. Situated directly on the shores of the sprawling **Stockton Lake** near Greenfield, this destination—managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE)—is celebrated by locals as one of the best spots for both relaxation and recreation. The name "Ruark West Campground" is commonly used to refer to the **Ruark Bluff West** park area, which offers a shady retreat with easy access to the lake's nearly 300 miles of shoreline.

Stockton Lake is famous across the state for its crystal-clear waters and exceptional sailing conditions, but it is equally prized for its superb fishing and the stunning natural backdrop of rolling hills, thick forests, and native prairie grasses. Ruark West provides a fantastic base camp for exploring it all. Whether you’re an experienced angler hoping to land a walleye, crappie, or bass, or a family looking for a clean, safe, and pet-friendly environment to create weekend memories, this campground consistently delivers. Visitors frequently rave about the clean facilities, friendly staff, and the gorgeous vistas, particularly those famous Ozark **sunrises and sunsets** over the water.

Location and Accessibility: A Shady Bluff Overlooking Stockton Lake

Ruark Bluff West Campground enjoys a peaceful, slightly secluded location in the scenic Ozark Mountains of Southwest Missouri, near the town of Greenfield. Its position on a bluff offers many sites picturesque views of Stockton Lake.

The official location for the COE park is identified as:

Address: Unnamed Road, Greenfield, MO 65661, USA (Often referenced with 819 Route H, Greenfield, MO 65661)

Access to the campground is typically straightforward, following state and county roads leading off major thoroughfares like MO-39. While the specific address is rural, the campground is a well-known landmark on the west side of Stockton Lake. It is situated conveniently close to its sister park, Ruark Bluff East, but maintains its own distinct atmosphere. Though public transportation is non-existent, driving to this location is the standard and easiest route. It’s advisable for visitors to print or download a map before arriving, as some reviews suggest that cell service can be weak—which, for many, is part of the appeal of disconnecting in nature. The secluded location ensures that the noise of everyday life is replaced by the tranquility of the Missouri wilderness.

This camping area without a doubt was one of the most peaceful places to camp we've been in a long time. The facilities were adequate and clean. The one thing I would suggest check the wind before you put up your tent. 😉😮😁

The camping was good. The sites were clean. We were in on travel trailer so we did not use the facilities. It was a full campground and I'm sure it was because the kids needed it before going back to school. I appreciated the quite starting at 10:00 which everyone pretty much abided too. Lots of water fun wave runner's, pontoon boats, and fishing boats .
