This small, 53-site campground primarily caters to long-term stays and offers essential amenities for travelers visiting the Aztec area.

Environment and Location:

The campground is primarily a gravel parking lot with some grassy areas and scattered shade trees. Its location is a significant advantage, as it is within walking distance of the Aztec Ruins National Monument. The park is situated in a residential neighborhood, offering a quiet and accessible environment. However, it lacks the traditional "campground vibe" and is more functional than scenic.

Services and Features:

  • Gravel pull-through sites.
  • Free Wi-Fi (though reliability may vary).
  • Pet-friendly with a grass area and pick-up station.

Customer Feedback and Considerations:

Reviews indicate that the campground is a simple and functional place for a short or long-term stay. The staff is praised for being friendly and helpful. The proximity to the Aztec Ruins National Monument is a major draw. However, the campground's basic amenities and gravel parking lot setup may not appeal to those seeking a more recreational camping experience. Guests should be aware of goats head burrs in dirt areas and plan accordingly. The Wi-Fi can be unreliable, but Verizon and Starlink provide adequate connectivity.

General Impression: This was a small campground with 53 sites. It was primarily a long-term stay campground that was mostly a gravel parking lot located within walking distance to Aztec National Monument Park. Campground: Some sites have a bit of grass in between and there are a few shade trees scattered throughout the campground. But it is mostly gravel throughout. Campsite # 33 Our campsite was a gravel pull through just long enough for our rig. We had to disconnect. The gravel was a little soft and it needed some leveling as well. We had full hookups with 50 & 30 #thifty. These sites were no frills with no picnic table, grill, or fire ring. No Propane refill or dump station. Wifi: While the campground does offer free Wifi, we had trouble even getting a speed test out of it. Verizon good enough for emails and searching. Starlink is fast enough for streaming. Noise Level: This campground was mostly quiet with little road noise. Amenities: No bathrooms, showers, laundry, pool, or playground. They had one dumpster located at the entrance. Dog friendly: There was no off-leash area but they did have a grass area to walk your dog at the front of the park with a pickup station that was fully stocked. Camp store: No. There is a Dollar General about half mile away and a Walmart was located about 8 miles away. Camp staff interactions: The staff was friendly and helpful. Additional info: This campground does have goats head burrs, so make sure to stay in the gravel or grass at the front of the park. The dirt areas have stickers. Cost $50.75 / night – we were told cash only Value: That is on the high end of what we like to spend and this was a no frills campground. It had full hookups and it was close to the ruins, but really that’s it. It did the job but didn’t have that “campground vibe”.

Simple little spot for a one night stay. Owner was very nice and we got a spot right up front for easy access. It’s a quaint location in a residential neighborhood and our view had a grassy lawn and huge pine tree. At night the owners have a small but nice light show on their porch and if you look out you may spot “Jane Doe” the resident deer who wonders the RV park. Most of the folks looked like they lived there but took pride in their spots. Stretch your legs and wonder down to the river and see the huge trees. Note: pay with cash or check only.

This park is just down the Road from the Aztec ruins and you can easily walk there from the park. Also the park is on the Animas river. You can walk down to the river each evening to sit on a bench by the river and relax. There ate no facilities (i.e. bathrooms, showers, etc.) at this camp ground. I think have 50 amp hook- ups at every sight.

Shari is the best host of any campground I've ever stayed at. We were going to be a bit late getting in, so I sent an email. She was willing to stay open until we got there. The campsite was next to the river and was amazing!

Friendly and quiet. We chose riverside tent camping which has 2 official camp areas and the freedom to camp anywhere on the short road. Beautiful fast flowing river so no shoreline and the banks were covered with downed cottonwood trees
