Customer Reviews
We reserved tent sites #1 &2. Im glad because they were kind of close together. The area was well shaded with trees over mostly everything. The parking spaces aren't in the dirt on each site but on cement parallel to other site(s) by the road. Not too far though. The bathrooms arent too far and were nice with showers and good lighting but there was no hand soap at the sinks. I really liked it overall, the only bummer was it was difficult to all hang out together at the beach site because we had dogs so we kept having to split up :/ Staff was nice
I could actually give this camping area 3 1/2 stars. As with most places around Georgetown lake, most of these spots are VERY CLOSE to each other. A few are spaced out nicely but not many. Reserve 2 together if you want a bit more privacy. Only a couple sites have views of the lake, the rest is wooded area. It was very quiet until my neighbors came home, then they were so loud it was very disruptive. Park hosts are very nice and helpful. Bathroom is very basic but has running water and works . It is close to the hiking trail.
Great park for camping or a day visit. We LOVE site #21. Great views of the water though no direct access to water unless you hike down the very steep side. Super short drive to the pepple beach. Clean bathrooms. No shade at the beach and can get very busy on weekends. Definitely worth bringing your inflatable boats or paddle boards, lots of beautiful places to explore on the water. Very kid friendly.
Great park, gate staff is always friendly, we prefer this location for lake access, it has a big boat ramp, plenty of room and parking. On holiday's definitely get there early. We also enjoy the picnic area, great location for grilling. It's the perfect location to spend the day swimming or out on the skis! One of our favorite spots in Georgetown.
We had a nice little excursion here. There is normally a $5 fee (I believe per car) to get in, but the fee station was closed so we didn't have to pay. We went down to the boat ramp area and walked along the rocks by the shore. The swimming area was closed. I'm not sure if that's because it is December or because of Covid (same with the day use area). Then we went to the hiking trail, that was by the main entrance. That was a pretty hike, with interesting rocks (big rocks in the trail) and of course, cedar trees. The trail goes down to the lake. We didn't do the whole loop (because there was no map so we didn't know how long it was) but it seems like it would be a decent enough hike (in terms of length), If you did the whole loop. It's definitely nice here, but if we had to pay, it just doesn't feel worth it to drive all the way here, especially because we live in Austin and there are good hikes that are much closer and free. P.s. There is a camping area here. I also saw a sign by the hiking trail that said you can camp along the trail, which is pretty cool, although there are lots of rocks, so you might have to search a little while to find a smooth flat spot for your tent!
