This is such a great campground. We visited with two kids (6 and 1) in December (with an RV, naturally). Wasn't too cold! Stunning views, squeaky clean restrooms, even when considering we were the only ones around. Highly recommended winter camping, as long as you can keep warm at night.
What a beautiful campground! We had no problem getting a site on a weekend in late September. Some sites are a bit small, but ours was quite large. Bathrooms were the best we’ve ever experienced in a National Park (newly renovated). The Visitor Center and two amazing canyon overlooks are a close walk away. Ideally suited for tent campers, vans or small RVs.
GREAT camping experience! The bathrooms were the best I’ve ever used in any campground! The camp host was nice. Everyone followed the quiet hours and was a peaceful experience. The sites had amazing views and the tent pads and grills were nicely maintained and flat. The weather was perfect this time of year. We stayed in loop A.
Saddlehorn Campground at Colorado National Monument is an absolute gem! The campsites are incredibly well-maintained and thoughtfully spaced apart, giving you privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. The bathrooms are spotless, which is a huge plus when camping. I stayed at Lot 47B, and I have to say, it offers the best view of Fruita Canyon—you wake up to stunning scenery right outside your tent. The entire campground is quiet and serene, making it perfect for a relaxing outdoor escape. If you're camping anywhere near the area, this spot is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
In late October 2024, there were some tent pads in loop A, but none in loop B. Campground is within easy walking distance of visitor center. Clean bathrooms with flush toilets. If you’re looking at weather conditions in Fruita or Grand Junction, note that the campground is maybe 1,000 feet above those cities and also has zero protection from the wind. As a tent camper, it makes a difference.
