We enjoyed our two-night stay, we planned to stay 1 more night but we were literally devoured by mosquitoes like never before, despite repellent, so we left. Most people during our stay camped for 1 night. Sagehen creek is very close to the campsite (convenient to get some water), and the meadows are mostly marshland, that's why there were a lot of mosquitoes. The place is very beautiful and so peaceful! At night you're rocked by the sound of the creek and in the morning the singing birds wake you up. Thank goodness NO noisy generators!!! The campsites are very large and you're not on top of the other campers. There are just 10 spots, on July 4 3 spots were occupied and the next night, 5 spots. It's a dispersed campground so it's free, but each site has a picnic table and a fire pit, plus there's a pit restroom ( no need to dig a hole ;) ) The road to get there is a bit rough at some points, 4 WD is necessary! We saw a coyote on the road and my son saw a black bear in the meadow 30 yards from our tent.

This campground was wonderful. Despite the fact my group and I decided to go during cold weathers, it was great. The road is pretty clear on the way up. Hit some terrain closer to the actual campground site. Had fire pits, a bathroom, picnic table, beautiful river. The ground was marshy around the campground area. But more than enough space for tents.

Went here every summer as a kid in the late 50s early 60s. Learned how to fish here. Hooked myself many times. Would gather red ants and put them with black ants and watch them fight. Ran around and caught grasshoppers for fishing bait. Always just our 2 families there. Not alot of people tent camped back then. Great memories.

I didn't camp here, but I did hike Sagehen Creek Trail with my 3 year old son and 4 year old nephew. This is so far one of my favorite hikes I've been on since moving to Reno. I would highly recommend this hike if you want a place that has free parking (BIG BONUS) and easy trail. It is flat with almost no incline. The kids had no troubles keeping up and enjoying themselves on this hike because of the ease of the trail. You will be hiking along the creek for a while so bring bug spray. The trail is filled with beautiful different kinds of wild flowers and ends at Stampede Reservoir. Note: The trail is close to 5 miles there and back.

An awesome little camping spot in the mountains near Tahoe. If you're looking for a new place to camp, enjoy a little light off reading, and enjoy having only a few campsites, then you'll love Sagehen. Each campsite has a picnic bench and fire pit. There's vault toilets on site. As well as a lake to fish in not far away. A nice little slice of nature, right in our backyard.

The showers were disgusting, it would have been 1000 times more sanitary to bathe in the creek. The staff (Faerthen Felix) was very short and rude behavior. Make sure you leave with all your belongings because they will not accommodate or help you retrieve a lost item. Not a pleasant stay.
