Sailor Springs Glamping Introduce

🏕️ Introduction / Overview

For Wisconsin residents looking to bridge the gap between rugged backcountry camping and the luxury of a hotel stay, Sailor Springs Glamping in Bayfield offers the perfect solution. Tucked away in five acres of dense, beautiful Northwoods forest, this destination redefines the camping experience near the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Instead of pitching your own tent, you can retreat to a thoughtfully designed, pre-set accommodation—be it a cozy A-frame cabin or a luxurious canvas tent—that promises comfort and seclusion.

Sailor Springs is all about connecting with nature without sacrificing essential comforts. It operates as a unique, small-scale, hike-in glamping ground, perfect for couples or solo travelers seeking a peaceful, romantic, or restorative escape. Its greatest charm is the feeling of being miles from civilization, deep in the woods, while actually being just a short drive from the vibrant tourist town of Bayfield. The property is known for its serene setting, particularly the year-round spring-fed creek that runs through the valley, providing a soothing soundtrack to your Wisconsin getaway.

This is an excellent option for those exploring the Lake Superior region—the ultimate basecamp for sailing, hiking, kayaking, and exploring the unique culture of the Bayfield Peninsula.

🗺️ Location and Accessibility

Sailor Springs Glamping boasts a strategic location that is both highly accessible and wonderfully secluded. It is situated just two miles outside of downtown Bayfield, Wisconsin, placing it minutes away from the Madeline Island Ferry, the Apostle Islands cruise docks, and all the local shops and eateries.

The address for the property is:

37085 W Bresette Hill Rd, Bayfield, WI 54814, USA

Accessibility is a defining feature of the Sailor Springs experience, as it is a hike-in property. Guests park in a designated area at the trailhead on Bresette Hill Road. From there, you gather your bags and hike a picturesque trail through the woods to your specific glamping site. The trail can be steep in spots and requires a moderate level of fitness and mobility to safely reach the secluded accommodations. This intentional hike ensures that once you arrive, you are truly immersed in the peaceful Northwoods environment, far removed from the sounds of traffic.

This location provides the best of both worlds: deep-woods tranquility combined with easy, quick access to one of Wisconsin's most beautiful harbor towns and the gateway to the Apostle Islands.

We stayed in the Anchor, a secluded, cozy, small A-frame cabin, right next to the creek. (Few things are more serenity-inducing than the sound of gently moving water.) Perfect for a couple or for a solo getaway. It’s a beautiful property and close to town — but it feels like you’re deep in the north woods, miles from anywhere. Looking forward to coming back and trying one of the other sites. 100% recommended!

We stayed at the Anchor for 3 nights & we absolutely loved it. Stunning location & property nested in the woods, with a creek running through it. The A frame is adorable & despite the thunderstorm + rain it was a perfect stay & adventure

We stayed at the Crow’s Nest for two nights in July. Provided/available at the site: Beds with a fitted sheet, pillows and a light blanket. A propane-powered heater with propane tank (it got down to 45 degrees). An outlet. Two lanterns (one was USBC rechargeable and the other had batteries). A water jug. A propane-powered camp stove, sink, fire pit, tiki torch. Slingshot with biodegradable pellets. Port-a-potty. Camp shower located nearby. Not provided: A second small propane tank for the stove. Nothing to charge the lantern. Worth mentioning: the lanterns were not very bright, but we had our own head lamps and flashlight so it was fine. The rechargeable lantern used up its power quickly and drained our portable chargers. We were very grateful that the host brought us a new propane tank when the heater one ran out. We had the bad fortune of being in Bayfield during torrential rain and thunderstorms. We had to hike in (1/4 mile) during a downpour, so our stuff got very wet. The sturdy tent kept us dry, and we were grateful to be up high during flash flood warnings. In my opinion, it was too tough of a hike to bring a cooler. Lots of up and down (fairly steep), walking on boards, big puddles. I’d 100% recommend a cooler backpack, and carrying your items in backpacks to make it doable. You need a hand free to hold onto the hand rails. If you are very out of shape, this might not be the place for you. I hope this review helps future people looking to book!
