This campground has one outhouse and no water source. There might be ten fire rings spaced around the dam at weird spots for parking. This lake is really not pretty, it looks like an old quarry and there's just a generally weird vibe around the reservoir. But, I was here on Memorial Day weekend and only two other spots were taken, so if you want to get away from crowds this works. It's run by the tribe so you pay for camping by buying a tribal recreation permit on the reservation. Also, the trail for hiking East Saint Mary's Peak starts at the campsite on the north side of the dam so the campground is good for ESM hikers. I drove by the Twin Lakes Campground a little ways down the road and honestly that area looks a lot nicer.
Didnt spend the night here just met up with some people to hike the peak. There was a decent place to setup a tent and a fire pit. Make sure to grab your reservation permit before heading over.
The fishing there is great.of all the lakes in the missions.this lake has the biggest bull trout.probably a 25 to 30 pounder lives there and at least a 20 to25 pound rainbow trout lives there.fishing of the bottom with a worm and a marshmallow will get them to bite.you just have to be patient.an old boy by the name of Lee cook has the record for both bull trout and rainbow.he used to catch them trolling with these things he called cow bells.
Nice place. Our sites were very close together
