Beautiful scenery for day camp, exploring and trail hiking, or overnight dispersed camping. First come, first serve with no reservation. Many camp sites are better than others. All sites have fire rings. No picnic area or playground. Basic dispersed camping only, with a fire ring. Once you pay at the booth at the beginning of the canyon for the Alpine Scenic pass, recreation is free this site. I paid $6 for a 3 day pass/receipt to affix to my window. A vault toilet is all that is available. Plan accordingly. The closest flushing toilets are at the Timpanogos cave parking lot. I recommend stopping there on the way in and out. Temperatures are much cooler than out of the canyon and it rained or sprinkled multiple times each day and night, making it difficult for hammocking. We also couldn't see the stars due to cloud cover. Tent camping and trailer camping work well. This year with high water, a stream is nearby. Many easy trails are family friendly with an incline. There are tons of dirt bikes going through at all hours of the day and the evening. Horses and mules are also prevalent on the trails. Several dogs were in other camp sites. Couples were even coming in with photographers to take engagement photos. You'll see some of everything here and make some fantastic memories in nature.
Great spot for dispersed camping and close to many trails.
Lots of designated camping spots with fire rings. Vault toilet was very clean. Because of its proximity to trails, expect lots of noise from off-road vehicles but most folks were respectful of the quiet hours. I really enjoyed this campground! Bring your own water and haul out your own trash.
As we were driving through the Alpine loop ithrough the unforgettable Golden yellow Aspen trees, I said to my family, "This is when Mother Nature makes jazz hands." The afternoon sun absolutely illuminates the yellow leaves and creates a gorgeous lighting effect that can't be adequately captured by photos.
There are beautiful trails around this campground. I went on an 8.5 mile trail run today. It was a bit on the warm side, but workable.
