Pretty sweet park. Incredible resource for the community. Beach is cool, has a nice short hike to overlook the water. Also saw over a dozen deer which seems excessive but maybe that's just Washington. Would have liked more signs about WWII history but I suppose nothing really ever happened there besides being ready and never being needed.
Salt Creek is exceptional. There's something here for everybody. The nature, the black volcanic rocks, the wildlife, basketball courts, playground, a kitchen, campground, a ww2 bunker, and more. Enjoy
Beautiful spot. The only issue is that the camp spots are very close together and day use is very busy.
The recreation area has two showers. It costs a quarter for 2 minutes of hot water. It is relatively cheap. It was a life saver after our backpacking the High Divide Loop. The views from the Re creation Area are also magnificent. The campgrounds are plentiful with its own fire-pit and a picnic table. The recreation area is only 10 minutes from Port Angeles but provides a calm and quiet atmosphere for camping.
The Coast is beautiful and peaceful here. Fort Hayden is here. Although it is not open to explore, it is cool to drive your car through the "tunnel."
