Whether you're an experienced RVer, a family looking to pitch a tent, or simply a nature lover eager to explore the great outdoors, Salthouse Branch Park offers an unforgettable experience.
What makes Salthouse Branch Park so special? Local campers consistently praise its outstanding qualities. As one long-time visitor enthusiastically shared, "Love camping here. The park is well keep and all the amenities are clean and well keep. We have stayed here for years and as long as I'm able I will continue too." Another glowing review emphasized, "This Virginia ❤️ campground is a gem – sites are spacious and level (a rarity!), the bathhouse sparkles and the hot showers are divine. Plus, the park rangers and deputies' watchful eyes made us feel super safe. This place is clearly well-loved and it shows! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐" This dedication to guest satisfaction and the pristine condition of the park are clear indicators of why Salthouse Branch Park is a top choice for locals. Let’s dive deeper into what makes this Virginian escape so appealing.
Salthouse Branch Park is conveniently located at 630 Salt House Branch Rd, Henry, VA 24102, USA. This address places it within Franklin County, in a rural yet accessible part of Virginia’s stunning Blue Ridge Mountains. The campground's setting on Philpott Lake, a 2,900-acre reservoir with 100 miles of shoreline, ensures a naturally beautiful backdrop for your stay.
Accessibility to Salthouse Branch Park is generally straightforward, but for those with larger RVs or campers, there's a valuable tip from seasoned visitors: "Don't follow the GPS and go in by Trenthill rd if you have much of a camper. Instead go to US 220 and Henry rd. It's just a little farther time wise, but the road is a lot smoother and doesn't have the long hard hills to pull." This insider advice highlights the importance of using US 220 and Henry Road (SR-605) for easier navigation, especially for those piloting larger rigs. From US 220, you would turn onto Henry Road (SR-605), go about 6 miles, then turn left onto Knob Church Road for 2 miles, followed by a left onto Salthouse Branch Road, following the signs to the entrance. This route avoids challenging turns and steep inclines, ensuring a smoother arrival. The park is located in a sparsely populated area, providing a true escape from urban congestion, yet it's within a reasonable drive for many Virginians, making it ideal for weekend getaways or longer vacations. Its location also offers easy access to nearby attractions, including Fairystone State Park and Fairystone Farms Wildlife Management Area.

We drive up 1.5 hours just for day use. Nice weekend beach/lake getaway.
Very nice for all types of camping!
Oh I love this place. We go every weekend. We've only been to the lake part but we have reserved and paid for lot 54 to camp in a tent. It is so beautiful right on the water! Offers grills and soft areas for your tent! The lake Beach area here is my favorite to go to because it's mostly family's and older people. Very quiet and very nice no drama. When things do occur the park office people and the park officer is right on it making sure it stays family friendly. It's quiet and clean and the workers are so very charming. Since we go so often and have the yearly pass they know us now and they are so great with my son! Wonderful place ❤️🌅 just wonderful. They also have cooking areas for people just visiting the lake. It's a little cut off and so darn peaceful they're stairs leading straight to the water from there! That's our new favorite spot!!
