Customer Reviews
Great little campsite located on the way into Minnewaska. All the spaces are well marked and easy to find. I had planned to stay two nights, but only stayed one night due to a sudden medical issue. While I had reserved one spot, the parking wasn’t really level. I sleep in my truck, so I texted the campsite hosts and they allowed me to stay in a different site, since I was there for only one night. Others had the site reserved the following morning. Other campers were very respectful of the quiet hours. I will most definitely be back!
If you're looking for a nice simple clean campground in the Catskills, this is a good choice. No fancy activities or amenities like a pool, water park, playground, etc. But the tent sites are spacious and well kept, and they each have a tent platform and a picnic table. It's a pretty, heavily wooded, and rustic campground. The bathrooms are clean and the campground manager is responsive and friendly. There's a quaint little town of New Paltz just a few miles down the road where you can find nice shops and restaurants. You can't have a campfire at your tent site but there's a communal bonfire at the pavilion. They're also dog friendly so you don't have to leave furry family members at home. There's WiFi at the pavilion and I got 2-3 bars of T-Mobile signal at my tent site.
Very quiet and clean campground. There was no one there for checkin but we were able to do it over the phone. Everyone there was respectful of the campground. Bathrooms were very clean usable. Showers weren’t used but they seemed like they’d work perfectly fine. Plenty of places to throw away trash. Very close to everything in the area. Only downside was no fireplaces at the campsites but it’s understandable why.
Mostly good camping ground that is close to the rock climbing mountains and Bethel. They have 5 Vehicle parking spots and a bunch of drive in and walk in camp sites. They have communal showers for the women’s room. 4 bathrooms and 2 showers that have the same changing space. There is 1 all gender stall that is just 1 shower and bathroom that can be useful for families . $1 per /4mins but I think just ¢50 is already enough to take a quick shower. The showers and bathrooms are cleaner than most but the ones near the campsites are a little smelly after a day of intense heat. The water although portable is still brown so we had to buy 3 Gallons of water for cooking and drinking. The common area right when you enter is a great place to have a communal fire pit, rock climbing stands and picnic tables so you can eat and make food with 2 sinks. Everything you need is in this location. The rock climbing is great for kids to play and tire them out before sleeping and is good adults who want to warm up a little before going climbing on the actual rocks.
This is definitely a climbers’ campground! And my favorite place to stay in the gunks! We have been staying at the campground for 3or 4 years now and always come back for the peaceful getaway. We usually car camp and love how simple and affordable the vehicle parking spots are here. We always know we have a safe place to park close to bathrooms. We have also tent camped here and love that you can choose between parking and walking to your site or choosing a site you can park right at. Even when it rains there is a dry space under the pavilion and 2 really cool climbing walls that the staff built! I would recommend booking out as they rarely have spots left on the weekends. They have a communal campfire to encourage meeting people and community which is really sweet. And we’ve gotten to meet folks from all around the world in the community space. Free firewood and there is a chopping block available near the fire pit as well. The staff are really helpful and friendly they don’t operate on regular hours though and have designated office hours which we learned is pretty standard for AAC campgrounds. But all the info you need on the campground is emailed out in the confirmation email to avoid confusion. Bonus! We usually walk from the campground to the cliff - definitely a tough trail but guarantees you avoiding sold out lots on the weekends.
