Absolutely amazing Free camping / boondocking on the RioGrande ! Easy to navigate even in my 32ft motorhome. Individual flat parking/camping areas with fire rings and picnic tables. Just a short walk to the Rio Grande and an easy walk to town. I stayed 4 days in February and absolutely loved it. There are more camping areas down the road but the first area is where I would recommend if you have a larger rv or motorhome. The road to some of the other spots is pretty rough.
Great place for a picnic or to stay for a few days. Lots of places to camp or more primitive sites are around
Nice little spot with ample shade for boondocking. (No restrooms or amenities of any kind ~ must be self sufficient.) Note that the entrance is a sort of steep decline (and 90° turn). But I made it down fine with my 21’ long Sprinter while towing an extra 12’ of trailer (5x8 trailer, plus tongue). Very quiet, and the whisper of the cottonwood leaves is dreamy to fall asleep to…
A free site near Bosque Del Apache wildlife reserve. No bathrooms, water, trash cans and no fires of any kind (not even propane gas cook stoves). Perfect if you just want a free campsite - but you can hear cars near by. The site is on the n/s route of the geese, cranes and ducks flying to/from the BDAWR.
This was a great and much appreciated overnight after looking at the birds until dark. 25' Class C fit with ease. The "hill" is nothing to worry about unless maybe there's ice or snow. Thanksgiving night, one other camper, very quiet.
