Large park with long pull through spots. We were here for a full week so we got to experience everything the park has to offer. The sites are all decent sized but some offer a little more privacy thanks to the shrubbery planted between the sites. We were in site 38 which was pretty good considering some sites have no bushes at all. The park has a trail down to the beach which is pretty steep. Once you get to the beach, you can walk about 2 miles to the pier and small town. It is a really nice beach walk and probably our favorite part of the park. I am knocking a star off due to the bathrooms. They are not dirty or anything. Just very tired. We decided to shower in our rig instead of the showers. Also the freeway noise is very noticeable when outside. Overall we would stay here again. It is very conveniently located and love the beach walk.

Love this place, so close to home, but it feels like you're somewhere else. The beach is beautiful. The campgrounds are clean and well-maintained, including the restrooms and showers. You have plenty of room between yourself and your neighbors. We look forward to coming here each and every time. The rail trail is a beautiful and flat walk to the San Clemente pier and even further north if you like. I've been here six times and look forward to returning each and every time. So many great places to eat and visit nearby as well. *10/13/2024 update* Simply my favorite place to camp. They do an outstanding job keeping it clean and in good condition. The sunsets are not to be missed. My favorite trip is always my next one to San Clemente.

2/5 stars for no soap dispensers in the bathroom. I don’t know how that is a thing in 2025 at a California State Park and post covid. $50 campground fee is pretty steep for no soap, pay token showers, and poorly marked camp sites. Otherwise, really enjoyed the beach and the access from the campground. Quiet by 10pm on a Saturday night, no complaints there!

Camped at the campground again a couple of years after my first visit and the campground has gone downhill somewhat. The path at the beach is in poor condition and is under construction. The entire length of the path at the park is in poor condition. Fortunately the path is great once you go about a 1/3 mile to the north. After staying one night I asked if there were any other openings because my camp site view consisted of the restrooms. One staff member said there was an opening and that I could switch. The other staff member then said that I couldn't switch and when I said that I'm normally able to switch they then said that there wasn't an opening. It seemed to me that the second staff member just didn't want to put forth the effort necessary to switch my site. The campground did not seem well maintained. I did enjoy the beach access.
