This is a large open gravel parking lot where you can disperse camp for free. Has a fault toilet. Can tent camp among the trees. Fires and outdoor stoves need a fire permit, which is free and can be obtained from the national forest headquarters. River is accessible for water fun and fishing.
Cleant vault toilet and we'll stocked. 4 campsites with nice fire pits and level areas for tents...
Great campsite if you want to get away from the "RVs in a parking lot" type campsite that is typical of the USA, but still want something accessible by road. I'm motorcycle camping with a hammock so it was great for me. You'll have to carry your camping gear maybe 50-100ft down from the parking lot. River water was probably clean enough to drink straight from the source but I boiled it to be safe.
We arrived late so decided to sleep in our vehicle for the night. The following afternoon, law enforcement arrived, and not to keep the area safe. They questioned everyone in the parking lot as to what they were doing there. Asked if we slept overnight like it was a crime and wanted both of us out of the vehicle. Female officer kept looking deeply into our eyes, I believe to see if we use drugs or not. The toilet paper in the bathrooms is soggy, and the inside the pit looks like they never pumped it out, with giant mold spores. Outdated health hazard, shady police. Stay away, the gravel parking lot isn't worth it.
