Sand Creek Campground Introduce

Sand Creek Campground, located at 1000-1048 N 350 E, Chesterton, IN 46304, USA, offers a rustic camping experience with mixed reviews regarding its amenities and maintenance. As part of the "Campgrounds & RV Parks" category, it provides a basic camping option for travelers.

Customer reviews indicate that the campground is situated in a somewhat secluded and hard-to-find location. The sites are described as reasonably spacious, with a good amount of trees providing shade and a natural setting. Water and electric hookups are reported to function adequately on some sites, though others may experience issues.

However, the campground faces significant maintenance challenges. The shower facilities are described as "very sketchy" with extensive rust, and the bathrooms are noted for lacking soap and general cleanliness. Drain issues are prevalent, with reports of flooded bathroom areas. The firewood sold at the campground is often wet, making it difficult to start fires, and the fire pits are described as small.

One reviewer mentioned the "honesty policy" for payment, which was convenient for them as they lacked cash. However, they also noted that the campground's pricing, ranging from $30-something for a primitive tent site to $45 for an RV full hookup site, was considered high for the amenities provided.

The staff is generally described as friendly, though one reviewer mentioned receiving unsolicited religious information. Overall, the campground is considered suitable for an overnight stay while traveling, but not recommended for extended vacations or recreational camping. The consensus is that the campground needs significant improvements in maintenance and amenities to justify its pricing and attract repeat visitors.

Sand Creek Campground offers rustic campground with maintenance issues. Located at 1000-1048 N 350 E.

We stayed here one night in October in a travel trailer while traveling coast to coast. This campground is not in the best location for traveling through but we were tired and wanted to stop for the night. The showers were very sketchy with all the rust covering the walls. The photos provided with another review are accurate We used water in the trailer since it is filtered. The photos with the reviews are accurate. The bathroom near us was out of toilet paper so I carried some extra that I keep when traveling. They have serious drain issues that need to be taken care of. I tried a different building with a bathroom the next morning and the entire area in front of the building was flooded. The staff was friendly although I was given some religious information that I didn't ask for. I was really glad that we were only staying for the night. I personally would not stay here again.

Campground is in a weird spot kinda hard to find. The sites aren’t too close together and there’s a good amount of trees which is nice. The water and electric worked just fine on our site but some sites were down. There was no soap in the bathrooms and they weren’t the best but also not the worst I’ve seen. The firewood we bought was wet so it was very difficult to start a fire. The fire pit was also very small. It’s a fine place to stay the night in between places, but I wouldn’t pay as much as I did for the site. It’s $30-something for a primitive tent site and $45 for an RV full hookup site. The payment is on an honestly policy which was convenient for us because we were poorly prepared and didn’t have cash. I might come back if I need a place to stay like this time, but I won’t come back for fun

My friends and I stayed in the yurt and it was absolutely beautiful! Clean place and well maintained. Free-roaming chickens that were an absolute blast to play with, just the loveliest gals 🤣🥰. Great hospitality, rates, and just 20 mins from the Indiana Dunes (State/National) Parks! I ABSOLUTELY recommend staying here!

We stayed at a partial hookup site with our Suburban (we are SUV campers). Not only was the campground itself spacious and clean, but the manager (Jason) was very friendly and helpful. He even brought our firewood to our site for us (in a wheelbarrow ❤️). We will DEFINITELY be back here both in our Suburban as well as our popup. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

The campground itself looks maintained well, they have a basket ball court and a few other small activities and lots of room to walk/run the driveway. I see lots of potential here I wish I would have stayed prior to the new ownership. I did not enjoy my stay at all under the new owners, I am working in the area and so my time aswell as phone access is verry limited and I notified them that, they were willing to work around it but then he kept forgetting our conversations ever happened, they thought we were squatters when we first arrived and they gave us an eviction notice and threatening cops. We got that under control and there seemed to be issues every day ! They don’t know what they are doing at all ! I do not recommend staying here what so ever!! Worst service from a campground I have EVER experienced in my travels! They are expensive and they don’t give money back if you leave early. Just terrible service! I do not recommend!
