These include a fun park with a bounce blob, a pool with a splash area for children, a snack bar, a party yurt for arts and crafts, and a movie area. The campground is praised for its clean bathrooms and showers, as well as its friendly and accommodating staff.
However, it is important to note that the availability of these activities is seasonal. Several reviews point out that the kid-focused activities cease during the winter months. Therefore, if you are planning a winter visit, you should not expect the full range of amenities.

One reviewer reported that the campground appeared empty despite the website indicating limited availability. Another reviewer experienced issues with overflowing dumping stations and non-functional sanitation facilities. It is advised to confirm the availability and functionality of specific amenities and facilities before booking.
Despite these issues, many reviewers have had positive experiences, particularly during the peak season. They highlight the fun activities, clean facilities, and friendly staff as reasons for their enjoyment. The noise level at night is generally reported to be respectful, contributing to a pleasant camping experience.
In summary, Santa Margarita KOA Holiday offers a family-friendly camping experience with a variety of amenities. However, the availability of these amenities is seasonal, and there have been reports of inaccuracies in online booking and facility functionality. It is recommended to contact the campground directly to confirm the availability of specific amenities and facilities, especially during the off-season.

Customer Reviews
We booked this KOA because we had just been in another one, and loved it for the kids: activities, movie nights, treasure hunts… it was great! Unfortunately, this was nothing like that, and the website didn’t mention anywhere that all kid activities stop in winter. Also, when we booked, the website said there was only one campsite left (of that kind), but when we got there the campground was empty. The dumping stations at our campsite overflew so we couldn’t use it— the staff mentioned having a problem with the sewage system; even so, they asked for an extra 30$ to use the sani dump outside; when I refused to pay, they accepted (it then turned out the station outside didn’t work either!). Maybe it would be different in the summer, but after seeing the infrastructure, I wouldn’t choose it in the summer either. We were very disappointed with the whole experience. Had we known, we’d have chosen one of campgrounds just a couple hundred meters further down the road.
You really cannot beat this campground with all the fun stuff to do! There's a super fun park with a bounce blob, a pool with splash area for the smaller kiddos, snack bar for yummy affordable treats, party yurt for arts and crafts, a movie area and more!! We had such an awesome time! Noise level at night was very respectful and the bathrooms/showers were always clean and well stocked. The staff have to be the sweetest people we've ever met. Overall it was an amazing stay and we cannot wait to visit again!!
Seems dated and unkempt. Roads were narrow dirt, with heavy rutting. Campground is heavily sloped, but most sites were reasonable level. One of our stay nights, the local power company needed to turn off power - a California thing, not a KOA problem, that said, this particular KOA made no attempt to notify us of the planned outage. We found out when we returned to our site for the night. Check in was quick and efficient. Staff was otherwise helpful. Views were nice, and otherwise not spectacular.
This campground is A+++! First: the grounds are beautiful. Views are amazing. Near a very cool lake. Second: sites are neat! We have stayed in an RV site and a cabin. In both cases, we were super happy with the set-up: we were separate (privacy) but not lonely or freaked out. The cabin: O M G!!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL view! Room for everyone, PLUS indoor plumbing! Third, and most important: The people. We broke an axle on the RV on the way in, and the women bent over backwards to help us out. They recommended a tow company, gave us access to their connection, and were SOOOOOO helpful and concerned and helpful and kind and…!!!!! Just outstanding women! Thank you SO MUCH to Karen and co-worker! Because of YOU (and your beautiful campground) we will always come back!
Spent a couple of nights tent camping at site 91. Steep gravely road to access but doable with any car in low gear. They have security staff that helps guide people to their campsite if necessary. The views were gorgeous, secluded, quiet. Bathroom was a bit far, but I didn't mind the walk/exercise. The countryside around there is beautiful. Would go back.
