Santa Rosa Yellow Post Sites is a hidden gem! We ventured there on a Tuesday night in mid-November and had the entire place to ourselves. Finding a post to set up camp was a breeze. Yes, it was cold, but oh so worth it! The sunset painted the sky with hues of orange and pink, and the sunrise was the most spectacular I've ever seen in my life! 🌄 It's definitely worth waking up early for! I went with a fellow truck camper buddy and navigating up the mountain was fairly easy with our two-wheel drive trucks. There's a tricky spot where you turn right to get to the posts towards the top, but other than that, it's pretty straightforward off-road driving. Just remember to take it slow as there are cars and bikers coming up and down the hill. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back! There's nothing better than a free place to camp 🙌🏼. If you're looking for an unforgettable camping experience, Santa Rosa Yellow Post Sites is the place to be!

Great spot to explore or camp for free Just please pack out your trash and stay on the trails. 4x4 is not required but some trails are steep, rocky and can be slippery when it rains. Awesome views make you feel farther into the mountains than you actually are. Great quick get a way, and close to Anza Borrego desert park.

great views. I made it up in a 2wd toyota matrix although I had to creatively use a rock. drive slow and steer carefully and it can be done.

The roads are more rough than they used to be and there are very few spots to turn around. I'd suggest 4 wheel drive and something that's got good clearance. Beautiful spot, though.
