My parents and I spent a night recently in one of the little historic cabins that used to be located where the Blue Mesa Reservoir is located and moved to higher ground. It was very quaint and nicely equipped with cooking supplies. It was also stocked with bath towels and washcloths even though the shower and toilet were located in a separate community small ‘Bathhouse’. The owner had let us know about the separate community ‘Bathhouse’ just incase there was any misunderstanding about the bathroom facilities situation when we booked our reservation. We weren’t too concerned with the bathroom situation due to being used to camping and using the campground bathroom toilet and shower facilities in our home state. Also, we had no concerns when reading the Google Reviews about their bathroom facility and looking at the Bathroom Picture listed in the reviews… I’m not sure where the pictured bathroom listed in the reviews is located!?! Because it’s definitely not a true picture nor description of the ‘Bathhouse’ available to individuals in the cabins. The real ‘Bathhouse’ is a single toilet, vanity and shower that still needs construction work and cleaning. The chipmunks have for sure taken it over. It does have the same shower curtain as seen in the google review picture but most definitely not the same nicely tiled bathroom. Like I mentioned, we’ve dealt with Lake Ouachita Campground Bathrooms and showers that are managed by the Corps of Engineers and definitely not for everyone. I just want to put a honest review related to the ‘Bathhouse’ situation so nobody is misled by prior comments and the picture of the mystery bathroom incase it’s not what they’re expecting. I admit the exterior picture I took of the ‘Bathhouse’ looks charming. I chose not to post the interior picture to not completely degrade the Sapinero Village because I understood they’re still making improvements and despite the bathroom situation, the cabin was adorable and once the bridge construction is finished, it has beautiful views!! Also, the Sapinero Village cabin beds were absolutely the most comfortable mattresses we slept on during our entire Colorado road trip!!

Riding through the mountains, and spent a night in Cabin 2. Yes, the cabin look is beautiful-rustic, but the cabin was quite comfortable. The peace and quiet was awesome, and the view across the Blue Mesa was breathtaking.

Stayed at one of the camping sites with water, sewer and power hookups for 5 days while fishing at Blue Mesa. No issues with power, septic, or water. The owners are on-site and do a fine job caring for the place, and are always happy to help, however they can. We made good use of the bath house (never run out of hot water for the shower), and enjoyed relaxing in the recreation room.

First off, WOW! This is such a hidden gem for Colorado! The beautiful landscape of the large Blue Mesa Lake tucked in the hills of the Rockies. I went with my family and a few friends and there was something to do for all ages. We rented the apt for three days and it was definitely not long enough of a stay. We will be going back! It’s a beautiful drive from Denver and once you arrive it’s picture perfect where the campground is located on the lake. Kendal and Joe (owners) were such amazing hosts as well. They took us out in their boat, showed us their beach spot and had live music playing at night when we were done playing in the sun. If you have not experienced a visit to Sapinero Village Campground, I would highly recommend it! Book your stay today!

We really enjoyed our stay at Sapinero Village Campground! We stayed in cabin 2. The cabin came with a stocked kitchen with utensils, pots, pans, etc. The bed was very comfortable. They had a small fireplace heater that heated up the room and also provided a fan! The views were unbeatable. It was a very quiet area and is close to the Black Canyon (highly recommend-so beautiful, great for hiking and sight seeing) and Gunnison (great for shopping and dinner/drinks). You can also rent kayaks/boats across the street at Lake Fork. There is a hiking trail behind the cabins that leads to great views. Overall, this was a great place to stay and would recommend to anyone!
