Instead, it offers a more authentic, back-to-nature experience, where the focus is on the tranquil environment, breathtaking views, and direct access to the water. As many visitors attest, it's a "super calm shore with a great view," making it an ideal spot for those looking to unwind and truly disconnect. Whether you're planning a fun day trip for a picnic or an extended stay to fully immerse yourself in the desert lake lifestyle, this location provides a refreshing change of pace.

While the lake water might be "pretty cold" for some brave enough to take a dip, the overall experience of being able to park your RV or set up camp right by the shore is a significant draw. It’s a place where you can enjoy activities like fishing, boating, and even waterskiing, making it a versatile destination for various outdoor pursuits. This article will provide a comprehensive look at what makes Senator Wash North Shore a perfect retreat for California locals, offering insights into its location, available facilities, and the unique features that define this remarkable spot.

Senator Wash North Shore is located in Felicity, CA 92283, USA. While the address places it in California, it's important for local users to note its proximity to the Arizona border and the city of Yuma, Arizona. This area is part of the broader Imperial Dam Recreational Area, managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), which encompasses various points of interest along the Colorado River.

Accessibility to Senator Wash North Shore is generally straightforward, though it involves driving on unpaved roads once you turn off major routes. From Interstate 8, you would typically take the 4th Avenue exit towards Imperial County Road S24, then head north on Senator Wash Road. From there, specific signage will direct you towards the North Shore area. It's recommended to consult a map or GPS system for the most precise directions, as road conditions in desert areas can sometimes vary. While high-clearance vehicles are often recommended for accessing some of the more secluded spots, many areas are accessible by standard vehicles, and even a sedan might be seen parked near tents, indicating varied terrain.

The location offers a peaceful and remote feel, yet it’s not entirely isolated. Yuma, Arizona, is relatively close, providing access to essential services like groceries, fuel, and other supplies. The proximity to the Colorado River and other recreational areas like Mittry Lake Wildlife Area and Imperial National Wildlife Refuge significantly enhances the outdoor opportunities available to visitors. The landscape is characterized by desert terrain with scattered trees and gravel beaches, all set against a scenic backdrop of surrounding mountain ranges.

It's important to note that the fee for entering Senator Wash North Shore is typically $10 for day-use and $15 for overnight use per vehicle. An annual pass, often available for $75, can provide access to this and other BLM-managed areas for an extended period (usually 14 days within a 28-day period). This affordable entry, combined with the scenic beauty and quiet atmosphere, makes it a highly accessible option for California locals seeking a budget-friendly outdoor adventure.

This is the perfect shore to park your RV or go for a fun day trip. It’s a super calm shore with a great view. If you live in the foothills or yuma you should totally make the trip up there to have a picnic or if you’re brave enough go into the lake (it’s pretty cold). There’s restrooms and the entrance is 10 bucks for car. Great hidden spot.

Pretty rough dusty dirt road coming in but passable. Trailers and class A's are here sometimes. Need a permit or pay a nightly fee. Mosquitoes can be bad in season. It's as quiet as you or your neighbor.
