My friends and I stayed at Shadow Bluffs (tent site, rv site, and one of the cabins) during the fall. The location is perfect for accessing Roaring River State Park. The cabin was very cute, well maintained, and clean. Our group did wish the hiking trail was more maintained as it was a difficult path and there was no map indicating where the path was. Additionally, there is only one bathroom so if staying in a tent site, you may have to wait a bit to shower/toilet. Not a deal breaker for us as we've done a lot of camping, but would be helpful to have 2 restrooms in case of emergency!
What a fantastic weekend. The Mercantile store has some great finds, the owners are spectacular and the camping was wonderful. The tiny cabins are perfect but there's also rv hookups and tent camping. Thank you Shadow Bluffs, would recommend, 11/10!
We took a last minute camping trip and had wanted to stay at Roaring Rivers but they were sold out and recommended here. We were pleased they had a couple of tent sites available. The tent sites are a little close together and completely open, so no privacy, shade, etc. However, each site had a fire ring and table, and perhaps electricity. They have a very nice bath and shower house as well as portable potty's. All very clean. They also have great firewood and very pleasant staff/owners.
What a great place to get away! I was the lucky recipient of a reservation due to a last-minute cancelation! My tiny house was perfect to have a little retreat to nature! Tammy and Dan are the perfect hosts! Their Mercantile store is so cute with lots of essentials and other items you "need!" Come check it out!
We had a nice time visiting Shadow Bluffs Retreat for a tent camping weekend. The camp hosts are the sweetest people and very accommodating. The got us a nice bundle of wood and had clean bathrooms. The campground was VERY spacious with cut grass and overlooking the woods. Location is great and is a 3 minute drive to Roaring River State park, which fills up quickly. This had a lot more charm and room. There wasn't loud parties and the area felt family friendly with a nice playground. We unfortunately got hit with rain and had to drive home early. We'd like to visit again!! They have a cute gift shop too.
