Shady Rest Campground Introduce
Shady Rest Campground, operating within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, represents a collection of distinct camping destinations, each offering a unique environment, set of services, and features tailored to different outdoor preferences. While the name "Shady Rest" evokes a sense of tranquility and natural respite, the specific offerings vary significantly across its known locations, from the high Sierra Nevada mountains of California to the rolling hills of Pennsylvania and the serene lakes of Minnesota. This diversity allows Shady Rest to cater to a wide spectrum of campers, from those seeking rugged wilderness adventures to those preferring a more comfortable, amenity-rich resort experience.
The environment at Shady Rest Campground locations is a primary factor in their appeal. For instance, New Shady Rest Campground and Old Shady Rest Campground in Mammoth Lakes, California, are nestled under a shady canopy of mature Jeffrey pine and spruce forests at an elevation of approximately 7,800 to 7,900 feet in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. This high-altitude setting provides stunning natural beauty, with abundant wildlife such as black bears, mule deer, and various bird species. The air is crisp and clean, and the campsites offer a true forest immersion. However, visitors should be aware of the active bear presence and be prepared to store food in provided bear-proof lockers. In contrast, Shady Rest Campground in Union Dale, Pennsylvania, offers a peaceful, mostly wooded setting across 16 acres in the heart of the Endless Mountains. It provides a more secluded and tranquil environment, close to nature, with Tunkhannock Creek nearby. Meanwhile, Shady Rest Resort and Campground on Lake Amelia in Alexandria, Minnesota, boasts a picturesque lakeside environment spread over 30 acres. Here, campers can enjoy clear, clean lake waters, beautiful sunsets, and a quiet, family-friendly atmosphere. The varied environments ensure that whether campers desire a mountain escape, a forest retreat, or a lakeside vacation, a "Shady Rest" location is likely to meet their needs, all unified by the promise of natural beauty and a peaceful setting.
The services offered at Shady Rest Campground locations are designed to accommodate diverse camping styles. At New Shady Rest Campground in California, services are more primitive but comprehensive for a forest service campground, including flush toilets and potable water available at various points. Picnic tables and campfire rings are provided at each site, and bear-proof food storage lockers are mandatory. A dump station is available, though showers are not directly on-site but can be found nearby in Mammoth Lakes. Firewood can typically be purchased on-site. For Shady Rest Campground in Union Dale, Pennsylvania, the focus is on comfort and convenience, with all 35 RV sites offering full hookups (water, sewer, and metered 30- or 50-amp electric). Additional amenities include cable TV, Wi-Fi hotspots, laundry services, and a single restroom with a tile shower, toilet, and sink located in the main house. Tent sites are also available, including some with water and electric hookups. Shady Rest Resort and Campground in Minnesota provides a wider range of services due to its resort nature. Alongside spacious RV sites with hookups, it offers 12 modern vacation homes (cabins) equipped with most home comforts, including kitchens and air conditioning. On-site facilities include a convenience store with a full tackle shop, laundry facilities, high-speed internet, and a sanitary dump station. The common thread across these locations is the provision of essential amenities like picnic tables and fire rings, with varying levels of utility hookups and additional services to suit the specific target audience of each campground.

Awesome place for family fun or an adult get away. Owners and staff are super friendly and provide a great experience. Whether you're looking for that special spot for you camper, or just want a night away in a cabin, they have it all. They have boat slips, plumbed restrooms with showers and so much more. If that isn't enough, you can stop in to Poor Folks Saloon for a cool refreshment, a snack, or perhaps to even listen to a band. This is a fun place with lots of offerings! Congrats you the new owners Erik and Kelly!
