Customer Reviews
Nice place to explore the Shaffer's canyon river bed, enjoy the views. Bring water, food, and sunscreen. It is always at least 5-15 degrees warmer here than everywhere else. Bring your kids and have fun exploring! Highly recommend the experience.
This campsite and it's surrounding views are decent. We set up our tent a little ways back from the pit toilet so we could have some privacy. Like others mentioned, this site gets a lot of traffic because it is either the first/last toilet in/out of the White Rim road. The only thing of note: the ground was super rocky and we had trouble getting the tent pegs in. Luckily it wasn't windy, so we didn't have to use them.
Great scenery. Clean, quiet. Not many folks camp here because it is close to start/end of Schaffer road
We went down the Shafer Trail while at Canyonlands. The switch backs were super cool and trilling. Two way traffic at times and cars going up have the right a way just as an fyi. The views along the trail were amazing and we also seen Thelma and Louise point. We took it in a 2015 Yukon Denali 2wd with no issues. There are some rough areas with some rock drop offs that we were right above the clearance.
A great 4wheel drive and have been on the trail several times. Beautiful views and scenic views.
