Shaffer Bend Recreation Area

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Amani yurt! Lots of very thoughtful details and everything was perfect. Beautiful views.

Amazing anniversary adventure! My husband and I recently celebrated our 2nd anniversary in AMANI at Shaffer Bend, and it was truly magical. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the luxury yurt. It had a cozy king-size bed, a full bathroom, a kitchenette, and A/C – everything we needed to feel right at home. The park is absolutely stunning, and the views from the secluded yurt were incredible. We had so much fun riding the electric trail bikes and exploring the different trails. Each trail offered a unique adventure! We also loved the private cowboy pool and grilling up some delicious meals. The easy access to the river was a real treat, with a sandy beach perfect for soaking up the sun. But what made our stay extra special was the amazing staff. Reecy, the host, was phenomenal. She made us feel truly cared for, always anticipating our needs and sharing valuable insights about the area and the parks. AMANI is the perfect lovers' getaway. We can’t wait to go back in the fall when things cool down a bit. We’re looking forward to using the fire pit and hot tub then. If you’re looking for a luxurious and unforgettable escape with your special someone, we highly recommend AMANI in Shaffer Bend!

This is a rustic park but well maintained, and well marked trails abound. The water was pretty far down from the trail and very sandy. But the river was gorgeous down there. Saw many birds including an osprey, golden fronted woodpecker, yellow Rumped warbler, loggerhead shrike as well as tons of cardinals. It would be amazing if they built a bird blind at this park. Restrooms at entrance, porta potties near the campsites.

This weekend my family an I decided to camp at this recreational area. When we got there they stated ,” oh you were over charged, you don’t have to pay the 5 dollar entry fee then.” They didn’t offer to refund the difference. It’s 25 dollars to camp for a night an I was charged 50 dollars. I’m on a fixed income so this is a huge problem! The place was nice an had plenty of trails. There were clean port a potties by camp side. The problem we had was the camp sites were so close together. We felt like we couldn’t play our music due to close campsite which was a disappointment. Another problem was that there were no trash cans anywhere. You have to drive all the way to the front of the park to empty your trash. I will not be returning!

Highly recommend this park/camp ground. Bring your bikes, pets, tents and all. If you can, book campsite 16 or 17, you will not be disappointed, it's right next to the lake shore. This place is sooooo beautiful! Plus, the owners rock, literally some of the nicest people on the planet. This is one place around the Austin area that you should have on your list to check out.
