Campground: Clean, Well Kept, sites are good sized and most are not too close to others. Apparently, there is a large family that frequents the camping spot and they do play their music and party there often. Our reservation was close to their camp and they were having more people come so we moved to the ADA spot (site 7). The noise of that camp didn't bother us at the ADA spot and the campers were all friendly and having a good time. The noise of the road did not bother us either. The road is not very traveled and we didn't have any trouble going to sleep. Our first camp spot the table was far from the camp fire and was hot with not enough shade (camp spot 5). The camp host was friendly and attentive. Toilets: Vault toilet- The cleanest Vault toilet I have every been in. Didn't even stink. Well Maintained. Dog Friendly- Yes but keep dogs on leashes. There is campground by a cow pasture. That might be a hassle for dog owners. Playground: I didn't see one but the campsites had space for kids to play. Poison Oak: I didn't see any poison oak by the campsite but I did by the picnic area. mosquito 🦟: not too bad. Definitely manageable Picnic area was close to the road Swimming hole: Across the street from the campground. Not good enough to keep us there 2 nights. The natural feature was really neat but there is not much of a beach. Seemed more like a party spot and no place to relax and float. I can see a lot of people wanting to jump off the rocks. The water was not crystal clear and it was murky. No campfire wood for sale at the campground but just as you turn on Sharps Creek road there is a house that was selling wood. *** At the ADA spot there was this make shift fort. That the camp host said was for smoking weed and to keep out of sight of the kids. Well, seems like kids can see the fort from the road and can smell weed easily. It looked like more of a fire hazard.
I took a break from the Fire Camp and relaxation. Darn, I wish I had my fishing pole. Also nice quiet campground there.
This has been one of my go to swimming holes my whole life. My parents brought me here as a child as did theirs. I bring my children and grandchildren. There is a large ledge to jump into a deep pool created by a waterfall long ago. One side of the wall (that time has taken down) is shallow and kid friendly and the other is 10+feet with a rock that has a low, medium, and high area to jump. There is a primitive campground across the street. There is not very much parking (first come first served.
This place is beautiful but the people in this area are white trash as all get out. I wouldn't recommend camping here unless you're a local. Shout-out to the BLM rangers in the area, probably paid off by the Klan but he made us feel safer
Gross gross gross. Poorly maintained outhouses, the whole place smells like a port-a-potty, I felt extremely unsafe walking around with my kids, and there were dogs barking all night. The list of reasons to avoid this place is way too long.
Beautiful time of year. A lot of cold snow runoff makes the water beautiful. I wouldn't swim yet. Lol. March is too soon. The area is recovering well from the summer fires. Snow line is high, no worries there. damaged trees falling here and there from fire and land saturation.
