We LOVED staying at Shellmound Campground! We only stayed overnight & left out the next afternoon. Check-out wasn't until 3 which was nice not to feel rushed. They don't do online booking or reservations but after speaking with Mickey on the phone, she assured us we'd have a spot and to come on through. Mickey was an absolute sweetheart and her campground is just the cutest. It was all decorated and lit up for Christmas & all the campsites had their own decorations. It's right on Nicajack Lake & even with the gloomy weather we had, it was still gorgeous. We wish we could've stayed longer but plan to be back next year. The women's showers had blazing hot water, heated, & was a short walk from our campsite. We very much appreciate Mickey accommodating us with such short notice and highly recommend her campground! We can't wait to come back!
We stayed one night but it was so beautiful, quite, and peaceful. We loved the place and wanted to stay longer if time permitted but alas! we didn't have the time. We'd love to.come back and stay a bit longer.
The camp host were great, as we pulled in the site we were assigned was not idea for our rig. They changed us on there own with out hassle! There B & G dump was down due to construction but had a smaller dump site for portable tanks.
A quiet and friendly little campground nestled on the side of the lake, where the hills stand out as much as the stars at night. This campground truly has everything, from a boat launch with massive parking to a playground that would make any kid drool to tons of tree's (which is becoming a bit of a rarity). This is not one of those "I would go back to this campground", it is a "I am going back to this campground!" While the cost of a site may be low, the quality is not. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff and a well maintained campground, this campground really does have it all. Thank You for a great and relaxing time.
Mikey was amazing and helped us with our stay! We are tent camping and love the Christmas decorations! Beautiful view, absolutely breathtaking! One of the best places to camp, I would recommend again!
Great experience here. Host was accommodating and plenty of room for tent camping. The place was well kept, probably the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen at a campground .
We loved the location with its proximity to Chattanooga and on the Tennessee river. Plenty of luscious shade trees and the grounds were well maintained. Managers are super nice. If there were any drawbacks it would be lack of wifi and even phone reception depends on your location within the campground. We were able to work around it but it was a little bit of a task finding good signal to be able to upload video content to our youtube channel. Restrooms were dated and didn't have a method to dry your hands. No towels or air dryer. Not a huge thing to us but to some it might be so wanted to mention it. TVA owns the campground so some of the rules are a little bazaar like assigning sites based on length of stay. But overall an excellent value at $35 per night. Weekly and monthly rates were also available. Plenty of playground equipment for kids. Public boat dock and rec area are adjacent to the park so that's convenient. It was super quiet at night and neighboring campers were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely visit again in the future.
Clean, friendly camp hosts, and has a nice shower room. Access to the river is also a plus. Nothing puts me to sleep better than the trains echoing off the river and mountains! Lots of toys for kids too!
