This is all about hiking and backpacking. Camping here is only what you can hike in with and limited parking area to depart from. In a word "rustic". Might take a minute to figure out how to get to where you are going as well. We went to see the falls. Wasn't too hard to see the top, but my wife couldn't make it down to where I took the posted pictures from.
Great area to get out and explore. Mostly gravel road to get back to the parking areas. Road is well maintained. Several different trails to take in the area. Parked in lot 3 and took the trail to Shelving Mountain summit. Nice gradual hike on a wide well maintained trail. Only negative was the view at the top is very obstructed by trees. So if it's a good view your looking for may want to look for another trail. Otherwise great hike.
Wonderful trek to the water fall, slippery slope to get to the base of the falls. Mosquitoes and tiks can be a bother sometimes. GPS network not available once you get in there.
Arrived to parking lot 1, followed the gps. Walked to where the bridge was before the parking lot. There, we walked over the stones with running water, next to the creek ..and then through the snow. Then we kept walking to till we saw the beginning of the fall Then we continued to walk about 2-3 minutes more and we made it to the waterfalls. Beautiful view and very refreshing. Recommended to wear good hiking shoes or boots. While I wore my Merrell hiking sneakers they still got wet. Would definitely 😁 go back again. My daughter who is 4 years old loved hiking with us! Definitely worth the trip! We saw many families with dogs and children!
For a circuit walk to the Falls, park at parking lot 5 and take the trail behind the yellow barred gate there. Take the left at the fork, and walk along the lake and then uphill to the Falls. Keep going uphill from the Falls to get back to the road bedside parking lot 1. For a shorter walk with less Hill, find the trail head beside the bridge just before parking lot 1.
