Sheraton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel

I usually try to focus on the positives when reviewing places, and I want to start by saying that the staff was very understanding and helpful with the below issue. Plus, my room and personal experience was generally okay. However, my fiancee (who was staying in a separate room, although we booked both rooms through my account) did not have a good experience. We were staying at this hotel for one night as a friend had their wedding reception on New Year's Eve in VA Beach. We checked into the hotel in the afternoon, and spent a few hours relaxing and getting ready for the wedding with no issues. We went to the reception, and came back to the hotel after the new year around 1am. My fiancee proceeded to get ready for bed and found two live cockroaches in her room, one of which fell out of a sweater she picked up after seeing the first one (disgusting!) We went to the front desk and they were very helpful with getting us a new room and not having to pay for the disgusting cockroach room. But, by the time we got this all resolved, niether of us got a lot of sleep and it made the drive home the next day real rough. I'm not necessarily saying don't stay here, but be sure to thoroughly check your room for bugs before you get settled!

Great View of the Ocean. However, don't bother renting a room here during the "Off Season". The hot water in the shower will take a minimum of 15 minutes to get hot. The bar will be closed and restaurant... Sometimes its open and sometimes its closed.

My husband and I had got married here September 14 because we loved the view of the beach from the 2nd story Grand Foyer windows! (Heads up it would be nice if you could pay them to clean them the day of the wedding!) We were thrilled to have the beach wedding without all the drama of getting married on the beach- weather, wind, sand, etc. The Grand ballroom was a fantastic spot for the reception and the staff was very attentive and accommodating. The food was also absolutely incredible which was extremely special to us because we didn’t get to come taste it prior to our event due to a family emergency. Nancy Rosen was so helpful with everything leading up to our big day and it could not have been better! My husband and I were very grateful we and our friends were able to get everything set up the night beforehand. Our family enjoyed getting to the beach to celebrate and almost everyone stayed at the hotel. It might’ve been a nice option if breakfast was included but we went to Pocahontas Pancakes right across the street! The ladies at the front desk were so nice and our family all had a great time!

Service was great, hotel clean and staff helpful. The only thing about the room that was not good was the bathroom. You could barely move it was so small and no fan. The balcony is really small as well. The location is great, not only near the beach which is perfect but walking distance to coffee, food and pharmacy. Parking garage Is very close. I would defystay here again.

Nice hotel right on the beach. There is no elite/executive lounge here despite what some other reviews have said. Front desk employee suggested it may have gone away during remodel. The hotel is newly refreshed but there are some indicators (the elevators) giving away the age of this building. The rooms are nice with plenty of plugs. We had a room with a pull out couch for the kids and no bed linens were staged in the room for that. A call to the front desk resolved that, but no pillows were provided. I was told they were out of pillows. I had to insist that they find pillows for the bed to accommodate the number of guests in our reservation, which they eventually did, but I found it frustrating to have to ask. It's also worth noting that while parking is not listed on the Marriott page for this hotel, it is available across the street in a separate parking garage for $15 a day.
