This is a hidden jewel of a campground. Geared towards long term campers, SFC lends it self to great family and friend experiences. While it may lack some of the amenities of larger corporate campgrounds it more than makes up for it with reasonable pricing, beautiful scenery, convenient access to boating/ water sports/ beach going, and the ability socialize with your neighbors in a relaxed atmosphere. Great place full of good times.
As a member of SFC for a few years now my experience has been nothing short of awesome! I'm writing this review solely with the intent to condone the most recent negative review that was posted. After doing a little research into this particular person's review. I quickly realized all the reviews this person has posted, have been negative ones by nature. And so be it, everyone is entitled to their opinion. So, here's mine! Life is about choices... SFC thankfully is a year round campground, it is gated and it is full of people absolutely grateful to have the opportunity to stay at Lake Gaston without having to shell out millions of dollars to experience it! Another advantage of the campground and not a secret. Is the fact that by being a year-round campground, it inherently more often than not keeps out negative minded transient campers that are just passing through. To them I say, do your research before writing a negative review! SFC is not advertised as an overnight place to camp, but there are campgrounds like that here at LKG. Oh, and by the way they have waiting lists too. So, if you're looking to spend a night or two you should probably get on a list and maybe you can experience LKG next year! Kudos to the owners for their professional response to Mr. Negativity. I myself have said my peace! In closing Sherwood Forest Campground is no doubt a family oriented place, and in my opinion full of very happy campers. The grounds are well maintained by owners and campers alike. It is a pet friendly place and most everyone knows each other's name. It is gated providing a nice sense of security and the grounds are lit where need be but not enough to take away from the feeling that you're camping. In closing, if this campground is not what you're looking for. Well then, life is about choices... Go somewhere else!
Best decision ever to settle here with our camper. Great friends and neighbors. Beautiful views of lake and nicely wooded area. Utilizing our camper more than ever at this campground!
