Guests have noted mixed experiences with the property. Positive feedback includes friendly staff, particularly John in the dining room and the front desk attendant. However, several reviews highlight issues such as poor cleanliness, outdated facilities, and management oversights during renovations. These include uncleaned rooms, a lack of housekeeping, and an incomplete renovation that affected amenities like the pool and hot tub.
- Rooms: Described as decent in size but with visible wear and tear, including dirty floors and torn bed linens.
- Bathrooms: Reports of cracked tiles, chipped paint, and inadequate hygiene.
- Complimentary Breakfast: Considered average with a small, untidy dining area.
- Location: Accessible but seen as less impressive compared to other local hotels.
The hotel's outdated appearance, including the use of physical keys instead of card systems, has been noted. Guests advise being cautious about renovations and payment policies during construction. Despite these issues, some appreciate the lower costs typical of a 2-star establishment.
Overall, Shilo Inns Suites is a viable option for budget travelers but comes with caveats regarding cleanliness and management. Potential guests are encouraged to weigh these factors against their priorities when planning their stay in Mammoth Lakes.

First off, I understand they are doing renovations, bit that does not mean that they can't keep the place neat and clean. The web site said the renovatins were exterior but did not specifically say the interior pool and hot were closed, would have been nice to know that. When we arrived I found the lobby very sloppy. Our room was decent size but again sloppy. The bathroom was not cleaned well, there was hair in the bathtub, cracked tiles on the floor, chipped paint etc. The towels and linens were awful, barley better than rags! The complimentary breakfast was OK, but the dinning room, if you could call it one, was small and again sloppy. The last thing that was disappointing was the housekeeping or lack there of. Not once did our room get cleaned over the 3 night stay. I don't expect a full cleaning but it would have been nice to get the trash can emptied and toilet paper restocked. The staff was friendly, John, the gentleman running the dinning room was pleasant as was the young lady working the front desk. It seems the issues here stem from failure at a higher management level. Over all the stay was a huge disappointment and I will never be back
In my humble opinion, this hotel was okay I guess. Breakfast was okay and that's pretty much it, since this was the hotel that served breakfast, well from what we know for now. The rooms were not as great because the floor looked dirty and the bed sheets were slightly torn, same with parts of the curtains. We didn't get much service either, we asked for new towels and never got them and we got our beds made despite no "Do Not Disturb" hanging on the door knob. The hotel's location was the only thing that was fine, but it seems not as good as the other hotels in Mammoth Lakes. Also, FYI, the fact that this hotel asks for the payment to stay here before telling us there is in the middle of construction in order to avoid losing business if it was before the payment is smart but also not. Sure they apologize about it but it may not be worth it in the end. Plus, this hotel is so 20th century, meaning for example the looks of the rooms and the hotel overall and the keys are actual keys unlike the key card in other more modern hotels we have been to. This is weird because they look behind compared to other hotels, including the ones in Mammoth Lakes. Not surprised from this since this is a 2-star hotel and the construction may have been the main disappointment along with the less modern look which made since with this hotel being cheap but low quality. Loyalty matters to the customer the most and this is a good example that is not and we won't be returning to this hotel. That is why we disliked their service because they weren't as open to customers like us. I hope others who visit Mammoth Lakes who first see this hotel in the reviews can see this as advice for them and the workers at the hotel. Sorry, but we give no tip.
Spacious room. Brand new shower and toilet room. Shower water was only warm. Carpet needs to be replaced and room needs updating. Our comforter is all lumpy from too many launderings. Glad as shows it is laundered. Hallway ceiling on second floor has leaks. For the price - over $200 I would have expected more? Excellent staff, towels, and a good breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes. Love the covered garage parking!
Booked through Hotwire and got this as the "hot rate hotel". Unfortunately it is currently undergoing major renovations, and as a result it is not a place I'd want to stay, though that could change once the renovations are done. I booked for early Feb 2025, and arrived to a construction site. Pallets of tile were out front, half of the facade of the building had been removed and was just exposed plywood and tyvek wrap, windows were boarded up and numerous building materials were laid out around the property. Inside was not much better, with the lobby set up in a minimally functional state, the pool and hot tub were completely gutted and unavailable, and a room that was well past needing a full renovation. Torn curtains, completely worn out linens, stained carpets, mildewed shower, halfway installed heater a/c unit and missing countertop trim were just a few of the issues. To top it off the room was also not ready to be occupied. To try and make things better the person checking me in made an effort to move me into one of the newly "renovated rooms", but unfortunately none were available. He was courteous and even called his manager to try and make things right, but unfortunately it didn't work out. Luckily I was able to get a refund and booked a stay at another hotel. If you are considering staying here for winter 2025 I would definitely recommend waiting until all the renovations are complete, as things right now are less than desirable.
I've stayed here many times n usually it's ok. This time pools closed, hot tub closed, lobby restroom closed and go figure no hot breakfast today. Definitely picked the wrong hotel, feel like I didn't get any of the services this hotel offers for the $ they charge.
