Shirley Meadows Campground offers a serene camping experience nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Wofford Heights, California. Managed by Kern County, this campground provides a mix of convenience and tranquility, making it an ideal choice for outdoor enthusiasts and travelers looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Nestled along Ice House Rd, Shirley Meadows Campground is a hidden gem that caters to both tent campers and RV owners, offering a range of facilities and services designed to meet your camping needs.

One of the standout features of Shirley Meadows Campground is its affordability. With a $18 daily fee, campers can enjoy up to 14 days of camping, making it an excellent option for extended stays. The campground offers basic but essential amenities, including clean restrooms and showers, which are maintained by county employees. Each campsite is equipped with one or two picnic tables, a water spigot, and a fire ring, providing everything you need for a comfortable outdoor experience.

While Shirley Meadows Campground doesn't require reservations and often has plenty of available spots, especially during weekends, it's important to note that only about 30% of the campsites are level. This can be a consideration for campers with trailers or RVs. The campground is primarily located on dusty dirt areas, which may not be ideal for those seeking pristine conditions. However, the site's proximity to the road doesn't detract from its peaceful atmosphere, as it remains quiet, especially in the evenings.

For campers relying on solar power, Shirley Meadows Campground may present some challenges due to its heavily shaded areas and limited clear spots. Solar panels may only receive sunlight for a few hours a day, which could be a consideration for those planning long-term stays. Despite these minor drawbacks, the campground's affordability and access to basic amenities make it a worthwhile destination for budget-conscious travelers.

Shirley Meadows Campground is particularly appealing for its natural beauty and quiet surroundings. The site offers ample opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and exploring the nearby scenic areas. With its convenient location and friendly camp host, Shirley Meadows Campground provides a welcoming environment for families, couples, and solo adventurers looking to enjoy nature without breaking the bank.

Customer feedback highlights the campground's strengths and charm. Many visitors appreciate the working hot water showers, clean restrooms, and running water at each site. The designated fire pits and grills add to the camping experience, allowing guests to cook meals and enjoy bonfires under the stars. One camper described it as "absolutely gorgeous," emphasizing the value of the $18 daily fee and the kindness of the camp owner, who adds a personal touch to the camping experience.

Overall, Shirley Meadows Campground is a great option for those seeking an affordable and peaceful camping destination in Wofford Heights, CA. While it may not have all the amenities of a luxury campground, its natural setting, affordability, and friendly staff make it a hidden gem worth exploring. Whether you're planning a short weekend trip or an extended stay, Shirley Meadows Campground offers a perfect balance of comfort and adventure in the great outdoors.

There isn't much information about this campground available online so here is some more. It is run by Kern County, there don't seem to be reservations available. There were plenty of available spots all weekend. Restrooms and showers were kept clean by a county employee, there was a dedicated site for a camp host but there was not one. Overall not a bad campground but it gets a low rating because only about 3/30ish of the camp sites have level areas and the campground is mainly just dusty dirt and right next to the road. Overall it is pretty quiet though especially later at night. Each site has 1-2 picnic tables, a water spigot, and a fire ring. Additionally, if you are planning to camp using solar power know that it is heavily shaded and few spots have enough clearing to get solar, and you will only get a couple hours worth a day.

Absolutely gorgeous camp ground with working hot water showers, toilets, running waters from faucets near camp grounds, designated fire holes and standing grills, picnic benches, and good places to pitch tents. It costs $18 to camp here, but for that price you can camp anywhere from 1-14 days. The camp owner is very kind, and I highly recommend this campground.
