Spent one night on our road trip south, site CC9. The sites are not private, luckily there were no other tenters in our area. The main road was right beside us so difficult to sleep. The camp store is only open weekends. On a positive note the toilets and showers were immaculate!
Great place to take the kids. Outdoor swimming pool, play ground, activities for children and adults. Owners are wonderful and make you feel very welcome. Not many tent sites but the ones they have are clean and big. Hot free shower's, public campers toilets and very clean port-a-johns. Lake for fishing and boat rentals. Game room, small store and laundry room. All the veteran campers were friendly and polite.
Nice campground with pool and hot tub. Even though it's pretty tight you didn't feel cramped because of the trees. Gravel camper sites so bring a rug. We went on a weekend and there's a little of activities going on, bingo, wagon rides, pool party etc. If you're into schmoozing and boozing then you'll have a great time. Otherwise night time doesn't really settle until 11 and the pool was packed most of the day. Free WiFi was a great bonus too!
This place is almost surreal… It’s a great place where kids can have a lot of fun, there’s a playground, a swimming pool, you can fish at the pond, etc. So if I was a kid and my parents brought me here I would have had a great time; it’s perfect for family gatherings and taking the kids to a place where they can run around, be loud, spend the whole day in the pool, they have a snack bar and the milkshakes and fries are amazing! The thing is, I am not a kid and I wanted peace and quiet; well, you won’t find that here. No way! No such thing, but that’s more on me, I guess. I got there 3 days after the 4th of July so my experience was kind of exceptional and from an anthropology perspective, really interesting. Everyone at the swimming pool had either stars and spangles swimming suits or blue and red patriotic outfits or t shirts with the legend: “Got Freedom?” Or “I can’t hear you over the sound of my freedom” kind of thing…. Apparently everyone there loved their country a lot. And their freedom. ( I like my freedom as well, but I think they like theirs more ) The atmosphere was festive, and relaxed, people drinking beer at the pool and having fun while the kids did cannon ball competitions or play Marco Polo… After a while I realized the place is a campground but also a trailer park where people actually live, some of them seem to be veterans or something of the sort. The afternoon I was there it was bingo night and a lot of people took part in it. they seemed to have had fun. Then at 10 pm there were fireworks…. Do you know what people there love more than Freedom? Fireworks! There was and absolutely badass display of fireworks that lasted 30 minutes… 30 minutes of loud, spectacular, first level fireworks… If I was a tiny dog or a sensitive pet it would have been a seemingly never ending nightmare… But I am a human and I enjoyed them; however I could not help but think about all the trash and debris that was being shot into the pond. The pond looks beautiful in pictures but is in great need of a deep clean up, not only from all the trash from the fireworks, but it also needs to be clean from a lot fishing line tangled among the lilies , fishing hooks, tackle, beer bottles, rotting algae, etc… In a few words, I won’t be coming back again because that’s not the kind of experience I look for when I am camping but I would definitely recommend it to families that want their kids to have a lot of fun!
We were here for 5 nights and I am sorry to give a bad review. The pool was nice and clean all though full timers were complaining that the hot tub will never get fixed. My complaint is that the place advertises wifi and has none. Now before you beat me up for just not unplugging for 5 days, I work from my camper and they should not advertise it if they don’t have it. It wasn’t just poor or spotty service. It was completely dead, phone was on sos all week. Tried to call someone when we were out and about but no one is in the office during the week nor do they answer the phone. There was weekend activities that we found out about by over hearing a full timer mention. They seem to only cater to the full timers not weekenders. Had a great weekend with our friends but I wouldn’t go back to a place that mis advertises there campground and is just completely disinterested in weekenders. Rooms got 5 stars above because we were in our own camper. I don’t know anything about the cabins.
