If you enjoy being off the beaten path and are ok with driving 1 1/2 hours ONE way to go about 21 miles, this is the place for you! I’m from TN and was raised in the hollers. I’m used to hills and curves, but the road to this resort about did me in. No guardrails, very narrow, hairpin curves, and a temporary bridge. Potholes galore. My daughter got carsick. We had booked 2 nights not realizing how long of a drive it was. When I asked about modifying our stay, I was told management would likely say no and the person I needed to talk to was out of the office for 2 days. So, we sucked it up and stayed. No AC and it was quite warm in the summer. We stayed in Evelyn Lake Studio. It was unfortunate it took 3 hours a day out of our 2 days there to hike and sight see.

Loved the food, but was disappointed with the room. STAY AWAY from the studio rooms! The room we booked was the Evelyn Lake and it’s honestly furnished really nice but it’s located right above the kitchen. The kitchen closes at 7:30pm but they were up cleaning till past 11 pm. The windows to the room are also facing the main public area which is also very loud. For what we payed, they should have been more honest about the studio room(s) location. We get up early to start our day off and not getting a good nights sleep the night prior really sucks. Overall, this was a beautiful location but maybe the cabins would have been a better experience.

If you are looking for a true nature experience without the throngs of national park visitors at the main entrance this is an absolute hidden gem in Sequoia. Be advised the drive up to the resort is not for the weak there are many points along the road where one false move can send you over a cliff BUT totally worth it once you arrive. Suggest a 4WD or a stay in Three Rivers. It is truly a fully immersive nature adventure at this resort. Chalets will be your best bet for comfort or for a more rugged experience try the primitive cabins. We went primitive. No internet, no TV, you, your friends/family and nature. Wonderful staff, food pretty good (must try the pies!), trails at Mineral King are breathtaking. Can't wait to return.

Just a driveby on the way to Mineral King while out for a drive. The area is absolutely gorgeous, but the road is narrow and windy. It's the longest 25 miles you'll ever drive. You have to be careful because most of the time, there's just enough room for one vehicle.

The resort is located at the top of a mountain with beautiful views along Mineral Springs Road. The staff was friendly and the food was amazing at the restaurant. It's a great place to disconnect from the world and just be in nature. It takes about an hour and 15 mins (21 miles total) to get back to the main road, and it's 2.5 hrs from General Grant Tree.
