While this campground is literally beside I 75, it has many wonderful features. The lake is pristine, the campsites are well maintained and it is very close to many restaurants. We stay at this campground often and love the hiking woods found in this recreational area.
Silver Lake Campground is beautiful. I have stayed in the tent camping section - Crooked River - multiple times. The campsites are all nice, the bathhouse has always been clean and stocked with toilet paper and paper towels. There is fresh pavement throughout the park now. The area up near Silver Lake itself has covered picnic tables, a boat ramp, and a nice covered pavilion. The RV campers are significantly closer to I75 and say the highway noise is quite loud at night, but I haven't experienced that. I love camping and kayaking here. 💕
We hiked for the day... if we ever camp here, we will avoid the loop by the Interstate! Nice trails, except for one area that was blocked by fallen debris... managed to get through it, though. Super nice pavilion with compost toilets close by (might scare little ones).
Nice clean campground. You found have a little highway noise. Bathrooms were very large and clean. We also had a little visitor that got into our banana pudding while we were sitting around the campfire.
Recently refurbished campground operated by Florida Forest Service. Right on the lake with boat ramp also area for kayaks, canoes. Beautiful hiking trails along the lake and withlacoochee river. Right outside the park are several interconnected paved trails.
