Sorry, but I can't single out any one staff member to compliment. Every one of them went above and beyond to make each guest feel welcome and comfortable. The friendliness of the staff was also reflected in the cheerful attitudes of the other campers. Friendly dog breeds are welcome there, too. There are scenic surroundings, things to do in addition to just chilling out and there is a great little store filled with thoughtful but sometimes forgotten essentials.

We loved our week at Silver Thread Basecamp. The staff were extremely polite and helpful….Josh even escorted us to our site! Stephanie was knowledgeable and helpful. The showers/restrooms were always clean and well maintained. The laundry room had plenty of machines so we didn’t have to wait. The park is easily accessible to South Fork and the surrounding areas. So much to do and see! A plus for us was having the covered wagons on site so family without an RV could come and join in the adventures! We would highly recommend the park for families and anyone wanting to “get away”!

This campground was perfect. We had a spot near the river and it was beautiful. It was quiet and the camp spots are not crammed together. It was a little out of town and we loved it. This was truly a great camping experience. We will for sure stay here every time!!

Silver Thread Basecamp sits on one of the best trout fishing spots this side of Creede, Colorado. Whether you’re an experienced angler or a novice with a rod, the river beckons you to cast your line and reel in memories. Imagine mornings spent by the water, the sun dappling the surface as you wait for that elusive tug. It’s a paradise for fishing enthusiasts, and you’ll find yourself immersed in the rhythm of nature. The whispering pines, the rustle of leaves, and the distant rush of the Rio Grande—it all became part of our daily soundtrack. 4/5 This is very much more of an RV camping spot than tenting but we expected as much! We tent camped with kids and friends and wanted a place with bathrooms and showers. This looked like a good fit online and it was for the most part! PROS: - The showers / bathrooms were clean and easy to get to from our camp site - Everyone respected quiet hours and we were thankful for no rowdy neighbors! - The tent sites are all treed which helps with wind/ weather. - The tent sites all have a firepit and picnic table. - Everyone we interacted with (including other guests) were very friendly and kind! - The best part BY FAR was the access to the river where our kids played most of the time we were at the campground! If this campsite didn't have this, it would not have been worth it for us as tent campers. CONS: - You can hear the highway traffic at night especially if you are in a tent. Also the ACs from nearby RVs. - The map online is a little deceiving... it makes it look more spread out than it is. The tent sites are right on top of each other (as are the RVs). This wasn't a huge deal because no one else was camping that weekend besides our friends who we didn't mind being next to! But if it were full, it would be a bit uncomfortable. - We had to pay for a 3 night minim (even though we only used 2 nights which is common for weekend camping) plus pay extra for each kid. We are a normal family of 5 and paying an extra $60 unexpectedly because our kids are sleeping in the tent with us felt unnecessary. We still only had one tent and I feel like tent sites should be based off tents and not people. Plus paying extra to "hold" the spot we booked. That felt scammy and I shouldn't have paid the extra 20 but was afraid we wouldn't be by our friends. It was a waste of money - all the tent spots are incredibly close. Our two night stay more than doubled with all the "extra fees." Overall, we enjoyed our time! Although, I am not sure it is worth it for a family to go back to this spot because of the fees especially if you are in a tent. I think it is a better RV experience.
