Silvermine Horse Campsite Introduce

Silvermine Horse Campsite, located in Hampton, CT 06247, offers a specialized camping experience for those who enjoy combining camping with horseback riding. As a part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this campsite provides access to trails and facilities tailored for equestrian enthusiasts.

Based on customer reviews, Silvermine Horse Campsite provides a unique experience, especially for horse owners. The trails are a significant highlight, offering safe and enjoyable riding experiences with ample opportunities for cantering and galloping. The presence of rangers adds a sense of security for campers. The campsite includes Porta Potty facilities for basic sanitation.

However, potential campers should be aware of some considerations. The campsite's layout may be challenging for larger RVs, with limited sites suitable for rigs over 26 feet. Maneuvering within the campsite can be tight, and recent renovations have impacted the availability of suitable horse paddock areas, with some areas having rocky terrain or cut-down brush. The locked gate also prevents drive-through access, requiring either pulling in or backing into sites.

A significant concern noted by campers is the unreliable water pump. It is strongly advised that campers bring their own water for both themselves and their horses, as the pump's functionality cannot be guaranteed. When functional, the pump is only suitable for horses. Campers should plan accordingly and bring ample water supplies.

Despite these challenges, Silvermine Horse Campsite offers a unique opportunity for equestrian camping. The well-maintained trails and the ability to camp with horses make it a destination for those seeking an outdoor adventure with their equine companions. Potential visitors should carefully consider the campsite's limitations regarding RV accommodations and water availability.

Had a fabulous time horse camping for four days with a couple of friends and four horses. I hadn't camped there since the early 90s, so this was a blast. It was actually quite busy in the camp as there were probably six others in there at the same time. I liked that the Rangers came through once or twice. There are Porta Potty's as well. Trails were in pretty good condition. I feel they were better than two years ago when I came in for a day trip. You can tell considerable work has been done in Lost Silvermine. It is appreciated!! A few things to note: there are only about five sites that can accommodate larger rigs, mine was 26' and my friend was 27'. It was tight getting into the site. Some of the renovations didn't leave much room for a safe horse paddock (too many rocks or cut down brush). You could definitely put your rig on one site and horses on another fairly close by. Not ideal but doable. With the new, locked gate, it does not appear that we can pull through anymore, so you are either pulling in or backing into the site. The biggest challenge is that the water pump didn't work. We attempted it two or three times to no avail. It did not appear we could prime it with water in any way without taking the cover off. We ended up just having water brought in (we brought some and lucky to have had the ability to get more). For now, plan to bring water for you and your horses. If the pump does work, it is only good for horses. Enjoy the camp!!

I don't like camping here. Most of the campsites are to cramped for large rigs. Most of the trees are gone making it hard to highline your horses. The trails are fabulous for riding. Lots of safe areas to canter/gallup your horses .

Not sure what is going on at the camp. A lot of trees were cut down, campsites were not suitable for camping and it look like they are still cutting.
