Skookum Creek Campground, located in Newport, Washington, provides a straightforward camping experience for those looking for a place to stay, particularly later in the camping season. As a part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, it offers basic amenities and accessibility for various camping styles.
Based on customer reviews, the campground is suitable for car camping and accommodates larger vehicles, including 5th wheels, with pull-through campsites. The campground has undergone recent clearing of hazard trees, which improves the overall safety and accessibility of the sites.
Here are some key features and observations:
The campground is noted for being well-kept and located in an attractive area. However, one reviewer mentioned that while it serves its purpose for late-season camping, they might not return, suggesting it may lack certain amenities or features that would encourage repeat visits.
If you're looking for a campground that stays open later in the year and offers basic car camping and RV accommodations, Skookum Creek Campground could be a suitable option. The absence of mosquitoes is a notable positive, and the cleared hazard trees contribute to a safer environment. However, potential campers should be aware of the occasional distant gunshots from hunters in the area and be prepared for cooler nighttime temperatures.

Car camping , no mosquitoes, 47’ at night, nice an cozy.
I camped with my 5th wheel for two nights in the 2nd week of October in one of several pull through campsites. The sight was apparently recently cleared of hazard trees. Hunters with shotguns use the area, so you hear distant gunshots occasionally. It’s well-kept in an attractive area that is open later in the year than other designated campgrounds, but beyond these reasons, I’ll probably not return.
Nice little gem! Site was right on water! Quiet and spacious. Cell service was good with T-Mobile. Has picnic tables and fire rings. Vault toilet. No water.
Great Campground especially busy during the hunting season. There is a hunt unit adjacent to the campground so it is very popular during that time. Also great place to go park and just go for a walk on the other side of the creek. There's usually no camp host which I think is weird and sometimes they open late in the season but I'm glad they are still here. The water spouts are not in service but the vaults are decent.
Rude partiers came in at 2 am and partied loudly until 330 am. There's no camp host, no water or electricity. Mosquitoes are thick there. Many trees are leaning, I would not recommend camping on windy days there. It's beautiful tho.
Its the week before Memorial Day 2025, and it is closed.
