Promotional Information:

Slate Run Metro Park in Canal Winchester, OH, offers a wide range of outdoor activities including hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and exploring a historical farm. With pet-friendly trails, picnic areas, and fishing gear rentals, it's perfect for family outings and nature enthusiasts. A Central Ohio Metropark with plenty to do! There are 9 trails to choose from, ranging from a 0.3-mile trail to Buzzard’s Roost Lake to a 2.1-mile trail (exclusively for horseback riding). Most trails fall between 1 and 2 miles, with varying difficulty levels. There are even a few 'easy' ones, like the 0.3- and 0.5-mile trails. And don't forget about the pet-friendly trail! Other activities include horseback riding, day camps, picnic areas, and fishing. The coolest thing I saw at this park was the fishing locker at Buzzard’s Roost Lake—if you don’t have fishing gear (pole, line, etc.), you can borrow some from the park during your visit. Another great feature of this park is the abundance of picnic tables. I could definitely see hosting a get-together here. There are restrooms by the picnic area next to Buzzard’s Roost Lake. All-in-all, Slate Run is a fantastic park with multiple ways to enjoy your day. Wonderful find while driving through Ohio. Saw a sign and decided to check it out. Historical farm was excellent and now have four pumpkins in the back of the car straight from the field. Nice variety of trails. Staff was beyond friendly and helpful.

We have taken my grandson here numerous times and he loves it. He loves being able to get so close to the animals and I love that it's free and never super busy.

Absolutely gorgeous park. We did the Kokomo Wetlands Trail, which is stunning. Very well mowed and marked grass and boardwalk trail. Parking lot is paved with plenty of spaces. There is a picnic shelter area. A couple outlooks right near the parking lot looking over ponds. The trail itself offers lots of water views. The boardwalk is also over water and has a couple areas with benches. Relatively flat trail with only a couple inclines. We also went to the playground area on the other side of the park. Huge shelter there with restrooms nearby. Tons of benches and a few bird feeders for those who like to bird watch.
