We stayed here for 4 months during the summer at a full hookup campsite and I really enjoyed the surroundings and laid back hospitality of this campground. Pool and pond were fun, great playground, and ice cream shop in the office was delightful. My only complaint was when it rained, our campsite would flood pretty bad, but we were in a permanent spot, the summertime weekend or week long spots looked really nice. Victor is very nice and all the campground staff were so sweet to myself and my babies. We like a more rustic, low key campground so this was a beautiful place to spend our summer in Wisconsin.

We came upon this campground gem after we timed out on our stay at a Dane Co campground. My only regret is that we didn't discover it last year when we stayed in the area. We are in our early 60's and have stayed at several parks around the country. I feel I am qualified to give an honest review. This is a campground, not an RV park and is one of the nicest in the outer Madison area...only 25 minutes to the north side. We've stayed at Dane and Rock Co campgrounds. This is truly a hidden gem in close by Columbia Co. Friendly people, nice pool and quiet. There is plenty for families to do. We plan on staying a few months next summer while visiting family. It is well worth the drive to Madison to have full hook up at a very reasonable monthly rate. There is an earlier complaint about the cost for using the pool..the cost is for extra visitors, not the campers. Don't believe everything you read..

Overall, good experience for the price we paid. Very reasonable prices. Not exceptional campground, but not bad by any means. I think this place has incredible potential in the future. We also enjoy supporting veterans. Negatives: - The bathroom situation. I felt misled about the bathrooms on the website - most of them are portapotties that were often out of toilet paper. There's only 3 showers for the entire campground, and they weren't great. Only one bathroom with flush toilets and it was meh. - We were told after setting up that we set up in the wrong spot. I counted 3 times on the map, and counted the sites, and am certain we were in the right spot. Thankfully we didn't have to move. - We were near some VERY rowdy tent campers. The first night, they were extremely loud and drunk in the middle of the night. (see below for the positive outcome though) Positives: - Absolutely loved the swimming pond. We spent every free moment we could in the pond. It's clean, sandy, and perfect for my toddler. - The site we had was incredibly spacious and an easy pull through. Loved the generous firewood delivery right to our site. - The main store has everything you could need, as well as plenty of treats! We loved the slushie night. - Loved all the options for kids: train rides, jumping pillow, pool, pond, playground, jumping pillow. - Security listened well about the rowdy tent campers, and the next night was completely silent by 10pm.

This place is awesome! We were there for the first time Labor Day Weekend. It has a nice layout with plenty of site room. The handicap site we were on was a full concrete pad which was nearly 100% level and full hook ups! It made leveling and setting up our camper a breeze. The owner and staff were a very helpful and a nice group of people. The main shower house happened to be out of order, but, the newly opened handi showers were wonderful. There are many kid friendly activities there and a decent playground as well. The pool appeared to be nice( I didn't use it) and is free to registered campers. The fee that the website mentions is for visitors. The swimming pond and pool were put to good use as well as the big bouncing bubble. There was free music and partyish things every evening in the Pavillion. They also had a "train" ride at dusk for the Littles too. The rules are strictly enforced, especially the quiet time from 10pm to 8am and also the no driving golf carts or riding bikes after 8pm regardless of lighting. We liked this campground alot and are going back for their last open weekend in October before putting our camper to sleep for the winter. Oh! Did I mention they have wifi too! You'll need to buy wood from them as they don't allow any carried in, but, for $22.00 you get a full to the brim trailer that you'd pull behind a lawn tractor for gardening that they bring to your site! They also have a dump station that's free to use for registered campers. Sleepy Dragon is golden as it is, but with the continuous improvements it will reach platinum in a short time!

Very reasonable, normal, hard-working family that doesn’t often leave a review. This review is necessary. We booked without any experience here and looked at other reviews before doing so. We always consider the 10% of reviews that you can’t make happy in life. Unfortunately, for this place they are true and it’s not 10%. Arrival at this campground and first observations are that it’s tucked away in a nice area. The drive in is of an older mobile home with dog kennels attached and junk lying around in the yard. Some okay playground area, then a beautiful pond area that looks pretty new. The owner checked us in and was friendly. He gave us a map and sent us on our way. We got to the site and the first thing we noticed was a site sharing the electrical post with us had a pop up camper positioned on it with garbage and household items strewn throughout the site (garbage bags, household furniture, lawn mower, and many other things). There was a single younger man staring at us from this site the whole time we were setting up. He appears to be living on this campsite full-time. We set up and got “relaxed” then went looking for the shower house depicted on the map the owner gave us. It wasn’t where the map showed so we asked someone and they told us that this hadn’t been there for a while (they seemed confused about what we were even talking about). He said there are only two showers and they’re in the main office building. I haven’t checked those out as of writing this. The bathrooms are all Porta Johns that are dirty and have no lightning. We learned that it costs money ($5 for Kids, $10 for adults) to swim in the pool. We sat around the camp fire until 10pm then went to bed (posted hours for staying quiet). There were still kids up being loud until about 11:30pm (which we have grace for). We got about an hour of sleep and then were woken up by very loud adults in the center of all the campsites. This could have been a fluke but it was a seasonal campsite. We attempted to fall back asleep but the noise went on for hours. Sleep wasn’t an option. This noise went on until 4:30am. Got out of the tent around 7:30am to find that my family (in the site next to us) called at 2am to ask for help quieting folks down. No one around or available, no help. The office is closed 9pm to 9am so we went to discuss our concerns with the owner right at 9am and were met with the fact that he sleeps on site. He said he slept very well. He said he has no security, can’t control people, didn’t see a problem with our concerns, and gives zero refunds. I’m not sure what our expectation was during the conversation but…the owner just didn’t care about anything we talked about and actually dismissed our concerns as “not an issue”. The facts - The campground has potential; mature trees, nice size sites, the location is okay (could be peaceful), had decent picnic tables, fire rings, and a swimming pond. The customer experience is a zero. If you’re looking for that safe, calm, peaceful, and trusting campground vibe, you’ll need to find a different place. This is a very real experience from two families who just want to share how things went for us. Our suggestion - go somewhere else.
