As part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Sly Guard Cabin provides a tranquil retreat for those seeking a break from the ordinary. The cabin features a full kitchen, a living room with a TV and DVD player, and a bathroom with hot and cold water. Please note that the cabin's equipment is somewhat dated, and long showers may not be feasible. The sleeping arrangements include two twin beds, and guests are advised to bring their own sheets. For those over 6 feet tall, the beds might be a bit short. A small walk-in closet is available for luggage storage. While a fire ring and picnic table are located outside, it's important to be aware of local fire restrictions, which may prohibit campfires.

Customer reviews highlight the beautiful scenery and quiet atmosphere of the cabin. It's considered an inexpensive option near Sly Park Lake. However, some reviews mention cleanliness concerns, particularly regarding the coffee maker and limited kitchen utensils. The refrigerator's functionality, especially its ability to freeze, has also been noted as a potential issue. Additionally, the wall heater may not function reliably, but electric heaters are provided to maintain a comfortable temperature.

Accessing the cabin requires navigating a dirt road across from the fire station and taking an immediate left until you see the "Sly Guard Cabin" sign. A gate is present, requiring you to remove a bolt to open it. Remember to close the gate behind you. Parking is available near the cabin, contrary to some online map directions that suggest roadside parking.

Sly Guard Cabin offers a simple, rustic experience for those looking to explore the natural beauty of Pollock Pines. While it may not offer modern amenities, its location and peaceful environment make it a suitable choice for a quiet getaway.

Nice little cabin close to hiking trails and recreational areas. It has a full kitchen, living room with TV and a DVD player and a bunch of random DVDs. Bathroom is nice and clean with hot and cold water, but don’t plan for long showers because this is an old cabin with outdated equipment. The room has two twin beds and if you’re over 6’ you’d definitely won’t fit in those beds (don’t forget to bring your own sheets). There’s a small “walk-in” closet in the bedroom but enough room for your luggage. You can find a fire ring and a picnic table right outside the cabin. The wall heater didn’t work regardless how hard I tried but there were two electric heater that brought the temperature to an acceptable level. Google map tells you to park your car on the side of the road and walk to the cabin but you should take the dirt road across the fire station and take an immediate left till you see the “sly guard cabin” sign, you’ll see a gate but don’t freak out, just take the bolt out and open the gate and the path will take you to the cabin, just make sure you close the gate behind you.

Beautiful scenery. Very quiet & inexpensive cabin within a few miles of the lake. Cabin could be cleaner. Coffee maker was filthy so we didn't use it. Limited silverware in the kitchen. Only 2 spoons in the drawer. Refrigerator needs replacing. It won't even freeze water for ice cubes. Fires restrictions are in effect here so no sitting around the campfire at night. No fires allowed.

Beautiful place to camp. Just make sure you book your campsite out a year in advance. Especially if you’re doing it on a weekend.
