Its primary appeal lies in its status as a free campground, making outdoor adventures accessible to everyone regardless of budget. For Idahoans, who often cherish their state's natural landscapes and outdoor recreation, Smith Lake offers an authentic and unpretentious experience that aligns perfectly with the local ethos.
The fact that it’s maintained with clean, stocked bathrooms is a testament to its value and the community’s appreciation for it, even without a constant on-site host. Great spot that doesnt charge.some shade. Nights can get loud alot. No camp host. People hot rod the lake all the way down the mountain . Terrible road very washboard.
Great Free Campground, Bathroom kept clean and stocked on toilet paper. Wonderful sites, and two fishing docks. Great grills, though with the Stage 2 Fire Restrictions we didn't get to use them. Would be Five Stars but there are quite a few wasp nests throughout, and several of us are Severely Allergic.
A hidden gem, free camping at a fishing lake with shade, table, and vault toilet. Close to houses, but very quiet
Nice little campground, great little lake! Has 8 sites, hand pump water, poor cell reception for Verizon, none for T-Mobile or AT&T. No electric, no dump station. Trash must be carried out. Quiet place in the woods close to town (5 miles).
Wonderful campground with a beautiful lake to kayak, swim, fish you name it. There is also a bale eagle that roost's near the lake we saw the eagle all four days we stayed here, she was breath taking. Good facilities, quite and free. I will stay here again.
